If this is a clue of what kind of song were going for this year, then this could be promising.

But I'll hold judgement until the artist and song is announced (If when).

For those non-Brits wondering is that will be our entry... We're not in any immediate danger of winning

I have some fears UK will withdraw...

If that happens by any chance, my heart simply won't survive..

We aren't going anywhere. The BBC is an independent broadcaster and has 0 intention of withdrawing. Even if they did, ITV would snap it up without hesitation. In fact if there were a bidding process for the rights to Eurovision ITV would outbid BBC tenfold if it wanted to because it's much richer. I think even Channel 4 could host it also.

Well more like they are saying that Eurovision is just one big wacky joke forgetting of course that many of the acts featured in that montage did waaaaay better than the UK in their respective years and that as "weird" as they are they are still memorable which cannot really be said about the UK's acts for the most part.

But the comments on that tweet have made it obvious that their assessment of the contest has gone down like a fart in a crowded lift.

Still, its kind of amazing that this is the first tweet about Eurovision that the BBC has really done since their partnership with BMG was announced. So maybe we are getting close to some news about the UK's entry?

Maybe we'll get an announcement of when they are going to announce the date of their announcement?

Folks surprised at an ESC "joke" montage, while I'm just surprised that anybody thought 2020 was going to be the year when it would be joke no longer - BBC is making big savings!

Of course going into the future it will be interesting to see if the BBC funding changed and how that would impact on Eurovision. If there was revenue from advertising then there may be a huge incentive to win ESC because the viewing figures if the UK hosted would likely be very high.

I love the unanimous dragging of the BBC on the comments for that Tweet. Absolutely beautiful. Hand on heart we are the actual joke country of Eurovision, and it's not even a funny joke. It's that guy at a party that's always pushing in, trying his hardest to say something hilarious but just comes off as a lame energy vacuum who you want removed from the premises and your life. Step up BBC and stop taking the piss. We haven't earned that right. We suck. Stop sucking.

I don't think the BBC will ever let it go. No matter how bad they try and how terrible they portray the image of the contest, Eurovision always brings them decent ratings. But I would love to see what ITV, and especially Channel 4, would do if they were the ones taking part.

If we talk about Eurovision entries :ru: is much worse than :uk: .
I prefer to have home country in bottom 5 with usually interesting no name over top 3 result with popular, but not good singer.

Oh don’t be silly!
Do you want to see Lazarev/Gagarina/Bilan on Eurovision again ?
Do you want to have internal selection for 8 years ?
