Only just gotten time to reflect on all this online!

Pretty good national final, at least based on past experiences. Hopefully the high viewing figures compared to the channel's slot average will be viewed positively. It was great to have a national final that was, yes, light but without any joke songs! Perhaps we can start to build up to a bigger venue and moving to BBC1 over the next few years (I'm not worried about non serious ESC fans voting if we don't have joke entries)!

I think overall the best package won. My order changed slightly. I thought Matthew's song was better live but was still my least favourite. Dulcima I genuinely thought had audio problems :/ ...with Darline I really enjoyed the song and performance but thought the vocals weren't great. Karl was perhaps my best overall improvement, I thought that with a revamp it could have done rather well in the end. Bianca killed it with the best vocals and I was really torn between voting for her or J&J. Unfortunately I think the verses to her song let her down in the end... A little reworking and she could have walked it. J&J do need to improve on their vocal but the performance was full of energy and you could just connect with them. I think all-in-all they were the best overall option.

Interestingly, I watched the national final with 2 casual Eurovision 'viewers' (as in, they usually watch the final and sometimes vote but not always, and never watch the semis or national finals)... they thought J&J were the best by far and quite liked it... labeling it as 'something you'd hear now' (meaning a current pop song).

In my opinion our winner is a really good pop song - not to everyone's taste (haters gonna hate) - but if it was played on Radio 1 as the new single from 1D, Union J, 5SOS or The Wanted I would be desperate for it to go to Eurovision (listen to any of that stuff, even from the past year and this fits right in, it's definitely current). I really think that with a little tweaking, strong vocals and a good performance this can go top 10 for our best result since Jade in 2009... It's not looking like my favourite this year, but seems destined for my top ten (perhaps top 5) and it's certainly a song and act I can get behind!

Along with the newer approach, and hopefully a good result in Stockholm over the next few years we can build-up ESC again in the UK and really drum-up quality acts... and perhaps a winner! I'm giving J&J all my support - if not yet quite right for victory, this is a huge step in the right direction, that should only be encouraged and supported by fans.

Anyone know if the BBC will release the full voting percentages at any point? I just feel like it was a bit of an anticlimax when they revealed who won in a matter of 30 seconds - I used to like when they'd give voting breakdowns by region (although this would be a lot harder with online voting I guess...)

Well they did an online vote as well, if I remember correctly, and an SMS vote. I was hoping for a regional breakdown, preferably with how Norway do theirs - the point system caused us to go to esc 2003 with Jemini when another singer apparently had more votes from the public. I don't know when they plan to release it, they didn't in 2010.

I still think it will get unnoticed in the Grand Final, and more with the new entries being released. It screams bottom to be honest :?

I gave up on taking Eurovision seriously years ago, to me I don't care about the final results, but if J&J finish bottom it will just be plain wrong.

I think people might be surprised by the result of this UK entry, if they add more electronics to the song, go all out on the staging, lots of lighting that could really lift the song even more. Joe & Jake should take note on how Coldplay stage their performances because their song does sound Coldplay-ish in parts. So glad that this is a thousand times better than the horror show from Electro Velvet last year. I would have commented about "You're not alone" sooner but I've only just managed to listen to it today.

Especially when electro velvet didn't finish last last year, and that was a much worse song.

I agree. There will be at least one song worse than it. I haven't found it yet, but I'm sure it'll come along in the next 2 weeks. :p

Since 2013, I have noted down how many views the UK entry has had on the BBC's channel, here is a comparison of the view count for the first 7 days for the last four UK entries.

Bonnie Tyler (2013) - 466,891
Molly Smitten-Downes (2014) - 239,406
Electro Velvet (2015) - 227,671
Joe & Jake (2016) - 160,891

Unfortunately a bit less this year than in previous years, perhaps the move from the red button to BBC4 has meant more people watched the entry, so don't need to see the video to find out what we are sending.

I notice the Eurovision channel has not yet uploaded the UK entry, so I can't make a comparison with last year.

Here's how the other UK NF participants are doing:

Bianca - 27,135
Darline - 14,391
Karl William Lund - 12,192
Dulcima - 10,254
Matthew James - 6,420

Remember that the others were all internal selections, so the only real way to view the song was to watch it online. Whereas people who watched Eurovision You Decide will have already seen J&J perform twice, and most probably don't feel the need to watch it again ;)

Well, that's not a good sign.

Meh. Another dissapointment in my eyes. Sounds plain and boring, but it's better than last year and the boys actually have charisma. Still no match for "Children of the Universe" though.

I was about to say I think that is more than likely the reason. in recent years the songs weren't revealed before the announcement so there were a lot of videos on youtube and things already so people dont need to use it as much
