Hadise in 2009 was great, but she is belgian

She is both AFAIK, and her musical career is definitely 100% Turkish now, although I'm still hoping for an English comeback on the Flemish charts.

Quent91 is right. No more "imported" singers please. It's like Morocco sending Loreen. Hadise grew up in Belgium, developed herself in Belgium, and started her career in Belgium. We have our own talented singers and groups.

According to wikipedia, Hadise is Turkish-Belgium which means both.[/offtopic]

From what I've heard, Hadise feels 100% Turkish. So why should she be Belgian just because she was born and raised there? xshrug

Hadise is born in Belgium, so her Turkish connection is ethnical and psychological and it seems she decided to see herself as Turkish (so that's what she is I guess), but technically she could be Belgian only (since she's born there and if she felt like that).

Anyways, she's just like Helena Paparizou in the Swedish-Greek exchange case, just an example of bad integration and diaspora nationalism. Is she even living in her beloved Turkey? I guess it's easy to talk the talk, but not walk the walk. Atleast Helena lives in Greece, so she's no hypocrite in that sense.

I think however Turkey got better options than her, because she's not that talented (hello out-of-breath lazy performance of 2009!).

I would love a female singer for Turkey though, I miss the booty-shaking entries

I think Hadise is an amazing studio artist, she is really one of the most modern and daring singers on the Turkish pop scene today. But live she is very average at best, not only at ESC 2009 but in most of her performances she just isn't very good.

Well, I kinda like some of her music, but now with the juries involved in ESC you also need to be a better vocalist... however, in 2009 they didn't seem to be much bothered about that since she still ended up at #4 even with a pretty lousy performance xshrug

On a personal note, I don't care too much about vocals as long as they're decent atleast, because I think the overall package and the song is the most important aspect. But that performance was pretty bad though even for my taste

It was a rather catchy song though, but I think #4 was overrated though.

She got sick before the show. I also don't think she was that overrated considering that Lena even won the contest with a pretty poor performance.

As I wrote, I was more shocked that the juries (who seem to care more about vocals than songs) weren't bothered xshrug

Imo Lena's song stood out enough to be a legitimate winner... but that's just taste.

I however liked Hadise's song aswell, but not that much for a top. 5.

I know but most people agree about Lena's presenting a pretty bad show but it didn't take much from her, which shows that the performance does not really matter there. At this point I think the songs should not be revealed before the show.

Well, I'm mostly judging the songs, while I acknowledge the total package of performance and vocals aswell, but to me those are secondary.

Hmm, you mean the songs should stay secret prior the show?

Interesting thought, however I think it would be a bit difficult to accomplish in these days of internet, net-piracy, YT etc.

Also, I think it would strengthen the votes for countries rather than songs.

I wonder if there is a little chance that they would pick Seher Ahmetzade...

There are much better rock vocals in Turkey.
