I should trust in my taste more than any forums or bets. our song, Italian and Greek songs were in my top 5, I found them simply amazing. And they all finished in top 10.
same here. more or less.
my predictions here were based on my taste and reactions here as well. some came true, others were a complete fail - I was also supporting greece but estonia as well.

this is a big lesson for me for next year - DON'T "go with the flow". and don't read any comments b4 u make up your own mind (and that is what happened here)

Can't believe my favorite Estonia came THAT LOW :(
Also disappointed with the positions of beautiful ballads from Lithuania and Austria.
Azerbaijan was good, but not the best, many entries were much better like the ones above and also France, Italy, Greece, Serbia and B&H.
And who the heck gave Germany the 10th place this year? This song was terrible, not to mention aliens running around the scene. I guess people were voting for Lena herself, not for the song.
The voting really sucked this year, it was worse than in previous years, I say, it will be a miracle if Cyprus won't give 12 points to Greece in the future contests.
Also, Azerbaijan is NOT a democratic country (like someone said in this thread), if you don't believe it, check Freedom House.

Hi everybody, what an evening. I'm sure that most of you were - as much as I was - totally surprised, shocked, whatever [...] after the votings yesterday. I predicted it would be very close for all countries due to so many different songs this year, it was just too difficult to choose.

First of all: congrats to Azerbaijan - it was amongst my favourites, I would've voted them 6th or so, not a real winner for me, but a good song certainly - I like it. It's okay for me. Only a bit sad they didn't seem to be very happy with each other, Ell & Nikki - read they can't stand each other? They didn't embrace properly, they weren't happy for each other... or was it just me?

I'm so happy that my favourite B&H is Top Ten, I voted for Dino several times. I voted for Ireland & Sweden once but wtf - Germany gave no points to Sweden?!

And what about France, Russia, Germany, UK, Estonia, Finland... all those favourites failed.

I'm quite surprised about Italy, I didn't think it was a very good song. Maybe Europe rewarded Italy for participating for the first time after a long time...

The most overrated song to me was Ukraine, sorry. Such a boring song, that many points, how is that possible?

Greece was no surprise for me. I predicted a Top5 after the drawing of the start positions. It was a win situation for Greece being playced amongst all those faves with their upbeat popsongs.

I liked the show, it was much better than the semifinals, I even liked the "Satellite" version of Raab more than the original of Lena.

So Baku, here we come! :)

It was an exciting night,I didn't expect Azerbaijan to win,but congrats anyway.
I think the stage performance was just ok,and there were better ones.Anyway,I expect a great show next year, though in Baku you'll be tired (the show will begin at midnight? :p )
I hoped Sweden would win,but top 3 in great.Italy is a true masterpiece, real music, just instruments, voice and that's all.I don't agree with some people that say that Italy came second just to keep sending songs like this. For me it's the darkest horse ever :)
I expected more from UK (I liked it btw) and I don't know who's this year Kate Ryan-Russia or Estonia? Estonia 24th,I cant believe en now...France failed hard,I think this the Kate Ryan-after first in betting for such a long time and in polls...ps-Germany,shem on you for the problems with sound,in the semis, and not only...I found this 4 example:
The performance by Amaury seemed strange. Something was wrong. Was he incredibly nervous? Why did it go wrong? Why was he out of tune in the first half of the song? Why did he not reach the longer notes? Well, the news came: the feedback in his earpieces (to hear himself) was dysfunctional. That is the reason why his whole performance went wrong. It's unacceptable! Unacceptable!

^ this is not the first time when earphones fail to function.
Also, the first note is very difficult to hit no matter if you hear it in the earphones or not.

Oh god im so happy for Azerbaijan, I wanted them to win!! They ll make me proud next year I am sure!! About the whole conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, well Azerbaijan will welcome Armenia to their country however I doubt Armenia will accept it. They ll turn the offer down just out of pride and they ll be like "oh we dont need you..." and bla bla bla... Anyway im happy that Azerbaijan won Eurovision before Armenia did, they deserved it! ;-)

P.s. What happened to estonia?! Second last?! Seriously?!

I was so surprised that Italy came that far. But they deserved it. I was also surprised about the positions of Greece and Ukraine, but in a bad way ^^ Greece's rapper was so terrible and Ukraine was really nothing special, people just voted for it because of the sand-art-thing in the background :/

I'm totally fine with Azerbaijan winning and I'm also fine with Lena's position. 10th is okay.

Although my favourites failed so bad but ESC 2011 was epic! How exciting, you could never guess what would happen. And well-known diaspora & neighbour votes seemed to decrease.

This is how a song contest should be. Yay!

What can I say? I thought it was an overall great contest. The Azeri song was good although I dont think it deserved to win. I genuinely thought Estonia should have been in the top 10, top 15 at least. Glad to see Ireland up there although very disappointed with the result from Blue. They did deserve top 10....11th isnt that bad and shows things are on the up. I loved their performance and thought they did well. I wanted Sweden to win so guess that 3rd is pretty good.

Ukraine got their because of the sand art lets face it! Greece, Moldova top 10?! What the hell!? Terrible songs!! Georgia was AWFUL....terrible singing and yet they did well.

What happened to France, Hungary, Finland....very poor result from very good performances. Something didnt seem right this year. Biggest shock - ITALY. Really did not deserve to be that high.....ah well! Always next year ;-)

Hey guys, I put this post in Azerbaijani topic but I think it makes sense to do it here as well. I would like to say that I had really amazing time in Dusseldorf I will always remember. I would like to thank everyone who voted for Azerbaijan and even the ones who did not, simply thanks a lot Europe!

For the ones who worry about the organisational stuff, trust me, ESC 2012 in Baku will be a must see event. All the details about it we will get soon.

Here is also my picture with Eldar and Nigar :p:oops:

Lollllll! Yes, I believe the european audience is so stupid that just got hypnotized by the ancient columns and the sand painting. That's a really good report. You should start a blog... xrofl3
Whatever...
Congrats to Azerbaijan! See you next year in Baku!

Good show yesterday...but the results were extremely random! Whilst I do like Azerbaijan's song, I really don't see it as a 'winner' and don't think that the vocals were worthy of winning the contest. Maybe this was more of a compromise between the jury and the televote? Even more random was the fact that Italy, Ukraine, Georgia and Greece made it to the top 10 and Lithuania scored so well. It was Greece's weakest entry in ages, in my opinion, and certainly should not be rewarded with such a high place. Ukraine was the shock of the night...the song is very average and Mika had a tendency to shout all over it...did the sand trick really warrant such a high place?! Georgia benefited A LOT from the draw but still think that a top 10 result is too high for this entry. Would have loved to see Slovenia, Hungary and Austria in the Top 10 instead! I'm really really pleased for Italy and did not see it coming second AT ALL....but it was a fantastic performance! Welcome back Italy!

Blue did the UK proud with their performance last night...a shame that they didn't get a Top 10 result...but 11th is still a good result for us!

We all think the rapper was terrible but people voted because Greek parts & zeibekiko were amazing. They destroyed the minuses. And I still don't like Mika's song but it was combined very well with the sand art. They told a story with that. If Ukraine won only because of the sand art, Estonia would have been on top 10. Their backdrop was great too ;)

As I said before, people don't want gimmicks, exaggerated shows etc anymore. They want to see good songs and simple, effective performances.

I'm a finnish voter/follower of esc 2011. I'm very glad that Azerbaijan won. Yet I'm mad at Armenians or secret Armenians (undercover diaspora with European names and/or pretending to be europeans) cannot admit the reality that their track sucked bad. They should congradulate their neighbor instead of bashing them such as "ohh nooo it was a horrible entry, howcome they won" and "oh noo who the heck goes to azerbaijan next year? no I wouldn't".
As a Finnish, I'm full supporter of Azerbaijan from now on and yes, I will visit Azerbaijan next year.
Stop the ugly fight and admit the fact.

They totally earned it.
And armenia has totally totalled!

I'm very sorry if it was too mean.

note: Azerbaijan didn't have neighbors voting 12 points for them. Azerbaijan is far east country in Eurovision. I recommend you to check 12 points that were given to Azerbaijan.

About the Greek-Cypriot vote exchange; you can never change it because they are same folks with two separate country just like Turks and Azeris. All of them have racial and emotional connections with each other.
