Well... I am rather saying that Armenia and Azerbaijan are in a huge conflict. I am pretty scared of Armenian delegation if they come... Do you remember that people who voted for Armenia in 2009 I guess from Azerbeijan were arrested and questioned? Also on Ictimai channel's website I saw a movie about Armenian killing Azeri people in some conflict. This is just sad...

I am pretty sure it is more about safety of Armenian delegation and they would have to make a decision about it...

EDIT: I saw you edited your post after I posted the reply so you know what I meant, but I think Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict is worse than all you mentioned...
Every conflict is bad on itself so no need in telling about worse conflicts or not. I can mention a conflict where 10 million Ukrainians were killed. Is that serious enough, no? It wasn't my point!
Armenian sportsmen come to Azerbaijan without any problem so I see not a single reason why you should be worried for their safety. There are risks of course but let's sit on our butts and do nothing - then with such attitude this conflict will never end. They should learn how to respect each other and this is a nice opportunity.

I'm sure Azerbaijan will try to be on it's best behaviour both regarding Armenians and the gays who will come :D
But people will be people and there are people behaving badly in all countries.

That's not a good example. We talk about a symbol which has different meanings.

I don't know which other example to use to explain it to you. I'm out of examples, this is probably my 100th post about the horned hand sign.

Azerbaijan is modern as much as a simple European country. I know our neighbour well :) Gays will have no problem and Armenians as well ( if they don't withdraw )

I was in Baku in 2009 and I saw a lot of gay guys, they were dragging the attention to themselves by acting according to certain stereotypes and they didn't really care about anyone so that must mean that they can do that without fear? There are prejudices against gay people, but nobody will hurt them I believe there is a certain respect for foreigners. That was just my impression during that summer ... of course I don't live there so I can't confirm it 100%.

OMG why you are so scared with Azerbaijan? Why you degrading whole country? This is really not right attitude.
That is a beautiful, democratic country like all others European states!
Actually, my biggest wish at the moment is to visit Baku - modern metropolis on Caspian Sea coast!

Weirdest Eurovision in last 10 years.

1 Azerbaijan
2 Italy
4 Ukraine
11 UK
15 France
22 Hungary
24 Estonia

:?

I voted for Azerbaijan, France and Greece. As always, no points for neither France nor Greece

Aw I don't think people mean it offensively, I just think there is genuinely very little known about the country from this part of Europe. I'm looking forward to learning all about it from this years contest!! :D

I know you are being nice and thanks a lot for that! Azerbaijan has many great aspect and not so great ones, democracy is not one of those great aspects I'm afraid.

its just sad to hear that actually..what would u have said when armenia would have won..would u have worried then about azeris safety too?..i dont think so..
I mean we all know that for many sports events they came to azerbaijan and nothing happened..at least it is a begginig to start anyhow a dialog between those countries..before its too late..dont u think so?
and iam pretty shure that azeris are to busy trying to organize a nice event instead of attacking armenians..dont exagerate it

Eurovision 2011 is over that is a fact lets take a closer look to what happened on Saturday night
First of all huge surprise- one of the favs to win the competition, Hungary didnt reached top 10, it ended 22nd :O, same thing with Estonia 24th place..... I actually agree with that. Even though I do like Hungarian entry, the singing live wasnt that good( I would love to see Poland in the final instead of Hungary!!!!) , and Estonian entry was just overrated, and on the real contest it just faced its real fate
Im surprised Italy ending so high..... didnt like the song
Same thing with Ukraine... but in this case song was good :D
Sweden..... song is not bad kinda eurovision type, but Eric's voice is not great at all
Lena's song is good actually and she sang it well :)
What else... oh yeah Blue...all I can say is "Good luck next year UK :)"
And the winners.... I was surprised to see Azerbaijan winning ESC2011, but the song is not bad.... I just couldnt see it as a winning song.....
So thats it I think see you in Baku 2012 :)

P.S For me Magda is the winner :)

True that.

in 2008 we even had a bisexual represenataive at the contest. we so no problems with gays in Azerbaijan, we have gay bars too. as for Armenia, their sportsmen come to the competitions without any problems. Besides we have a very low rate of crime in Azerbaijan. So, it will be fine.

It was a wonderful and exciting night and congrats to Azerbaidschan. I´m sure, you will be a great host next year.
About the result of Italy: I was positively surprised, I never thought that. This is a great result.
I´m happy for Lena to be in TOP 10, thanks for all, who voted for her. She did an amazing job on stage.
I´m surprised about the results of France, Hungary and Estonia. I expected higher places.
I was happy, that Germany gave Austria 12 points. So I hope, that the "battle" between both countries is over now.

About Azerbaidschan and Armenia. I hope, that Armenia won´t withdraw, there should be no reason for that. Perhaps, the ESC could be the beginning to normalize the relationship between both countries. This could be a big chance.

About votings of yesterday. Of course, it seems, that there are many blokvotings, but it´s a fact, that people who live in a special region, mostly have a similar taste, so it´s normal, that they vote for songs, which are their taste. Look at the Russian result of yesterday. Even Belarus only give Russia 5 points. Also the Croatian votes for Bosnia-Herzegowina weren´t the highest points. So I don´t think, that Azerbaidschan only won because of so many votes from EX-USSR-countries.
Last year Lena won by giving votes from all over Europe. And Germany isn´t a country where people are living all over Europe. I think, with a good song, every country has the chance for winning.
I must say, that Azerbaidschan is a deserved winner - I was sure, after I heard all performances.
