Since it is a song contest, performances should not be a matter anyway.

If performances didn't matter anyway, there wouldn't be any. Anything on stage during 3 mins matters. Ofc the song is the main part but performance, voice, even the lights and outfits are included in voting because they all create the entry :)

Now I read in a topic which is closed something about one supposed "Iberian block voting" with Spain, Portugal and... France??? WTF first news I have that France is in Iberian peninsula

And anyway, France gave us 12 points this year and it was such a surprise, but we don't usually get high points from our northern neighbours. We got ZERO last year, for example... ;)
Sorry for bringing this here, but facts are facts and I had to say it ;)

About Tio, the Iberian bloc didn't vote ala blindness - flawed to our neibourds or to ours as always... the fact that before Spain was forced to gave their 12 points to Romania before the jury was here  or France to Turkey and Portugal to Ukraine-Russia :lol:

The only thing that gets rewarded with a price in the end is the song and its writers respectively. No singing, no dancing, no technical gimmicks. Performances are needed to present the the song though. Everyone gives their best here – no big deal. Alternatively one could show the preview videos for instance but this would be less entertaining and lower the equal opportunities even more. No one denies that stage presentations (as did preview videos) influence the overall impression if one listens to a song for the first time. However, as the jury members are supposed to deal with songs before for them the time in point they hand in their scores should be irrelevant. Just would not like the idea results are certain before the show has begun if I were interested in the outcome. As I am not for other good reasons I personally do not care.
