Re: KAZAKHSTAN 2014

Kazakhstan is a secular state, more so than Turkey is nowadays. It's not some sort of Islam strong-hold if that's what you think, the country has been under Russian rule for some hundred years and is very influenced by Russian culture and socially.

Oh and what about Bosnia and Albania then, shouldn't they be allowed in ESC because they're "Muslim" countries? (also secular though) xshrug

Do you even read what I write? xcrazy I said that Kazakhstan has the right to take part because it's within the EBU area. Personally, I am against them participating as much as I am against Israel, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Not because they are Muslim, but because they are not in Europe.

Only Azerbaijan is Muslim there in that list :p

I know that, I was replying to the accusation from A-lister regarding Muslim countries, and talking about countries I'm against in ESC.

Can you provide some examples proving I'm wrong? ;)

They have much more in common with Mongolia than with Europe!

For example they was nomadic tribes and its largely influenced by turkic and mongolian nomadic lifestyle! Do you think that way of life is typical for european nations?

Majority of Bosnian&Herzegovina population are Christians

Claims are flying, now what about citing some sources?

I like how "secularism" is used as an argument to allow a country in btw, then we should kick Germany & Greece out.

I'm also against Kazakhstan. Although it would be eligible under the current set of rules I would prefer a ESC which concentrates on European music. African and Asian countries should start Africavision or Asiavision as there are more problems with countries in Asia and Africa regarding corruption and human rights. I would only make an exception for Israel for obvious reasons as they wouldn't stand in chance to even participate in an Asiavision whatsoever.

You must have forgotten your own comment then, because you questioned whether they can be culturally similar to Russia, Ukraine and Belarus if they're a Muslim country... and well, they obviously can.

Well, fact remains that they do have a geographical European part that is even bigger than some countries taking part now (even in percentage of their total area), and they're culturally, politically and socially pretty similar to the East Slavic ex-USSR countries...

I just find arguments against them a bit biased.

Why should Kazakhstan compete in some Asiavision when its culturally, socially and politically part of the "Russian" family rather than any Asian? And oh it already competes as part of Europe when it comes to different sport events, just like Israel does....

I do however agree that Eurovision should not make any further non-European expansions, but considering the things I already mentioned about Kazakhstans relations to Europe (the East Slavic parts atleast) and that it has a part in continental Europe aswell, I just find it hypocrisy excluding them because of some pro-Western European biasism. The Iron Curtain is gone, Europe doesn't end with Germany you know.

You're accusing people of being biased here but doing everything to discredit my country and how Kazakhstan is much more beautiful, secular, modern, european than her.

I fully support Kazakhstan but your only argument is to discredit and bash other countries. What's your problem?

You're being some hundred years too late, today Kazakhstan is a russified country more or less... hardly a "tribe" people any longer (although you can maybe find some of those in rural parts).

I can ask you what YOUR problem is??

I never said that Kazakhstan is "beautiful" or "modern", I said it belongs to the expanded-Russian culture family and has much in common with countries like Russia, Ukraine, Belarus... so?

Right, Azerbaijan needs more points than it has now xbow

Sorry but you treated Turkey like a stepchild throughout 70s', 80s' and 90s'. Now this is our revenge

I think chances of Russia and Ukraine getting the top points are a bit higher than Azerbaijan getting those tbh.

Oh, and if Poland would be in they'd also get some because there's some Polish diaspora left in Kazakhstan that were moved there during Soviet times... together with Germans aswell.
