The map highlighting the European geographical continent:

Kazakhstan's geographical European part is around the size of both Serbia and Bulgaria, and bigger than the host of ESC 2014 Denmark

I'm all in for a debut from Kazakhstan, simply because there's no proper argument against it.

Kazakhstan already competes alongside European countries in the group-stages for World- and Euro-cup, so why would ESC be any exception?

Re: KAZAKHSTAN 2014

Y'know... Russia is really an Asian country if we look at where most of the territory is

Not the Russian NATION though (you have to differ between nation and physical geographics), Russians are Europeans and not an Asian people. Also the capital lies within the European continent and the majority of its population lives in that part aswell, to say that Russia is an Asian country... well I disagree.

And I think you can't just split a country like that, then why is Turkey in? It has just a tiny part within Europe, the majority of its people live in the Asian part, and it's not a cultural, politically or socially a European country (well not more than Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia or Azerbaijan are nowadays).

Yes, the arguments are simply based on a pro-western Europe/anti-ex-USSR biasism and nothing more basically...

It's the percentage of the territory in Europe that matters, and unlike Turkey and Russia, this European part of Kazakhstan doesn't have the capital or any important city there.

So what? The majority of the Turkish people live in the Asian part, and let's not start on Georgia and Azerbaijan... oh and then there's Armenia and Israel who aren't even having geographical bits within the European continent.

Technically though, I'd argue all those countries belong to Europe... because do they belong to Asia? How come they mostly compete as part of Europe in different aspects... and add the cultural, political and social dimensions.

So? Is the percentage of Turkish European part that big? Oh and what about Georgia and Azerbaijan??? and what about Armenia and Israel then?

Sorry, but your arguments are simply not valid.

Did you see the "important city" part in my previous post? I was talking about Istanbul being that city.

And what makes you think that I agree with Armenia, Israel, Georgia, etc. being in the contest? Because I don't, these countries should have never been accepted.

I don't think Kazakhstan shares the same culture as we do :?

Anyway, I'm against.

You know that Europe is not just western or northern European culture right?

Kazakhstan shares pretty much the same culture as Russia, Ukraine, Belarus...

So Turkey should be allowed because of Istanbul?

Well, then we don't agree then... I just find it kinda hypocrisy.

Istanbul is a more important city in Turkey than Ankara xshrug

Anyway... by current rules, Kazakhstan could be easily accepted as it is within the EBU area.

Sorry to disappoint you, but that's the truth... Kazakhstan is closer culturally, socially and politically to the European Eastern Slavic ex-USSR countries than Turkey is to continental Europe.

Heck, even Azerbaijan is more "Turkic" in its culture than Kazakhstan is. Kazakhstan is almost like an Russian expansion into Central-Asian territory.

The country has a larger and more influential Russian minority than any other Caucasus or ex-USSR Central-Asian country has, the most common language is still Russian, it has a secular constitution, and then there's also Polish, Ukrainian and German diaspora groups there.

I'm pretty sure that the three countries you mentioned are not Muslim unlike Kazakhstan...

Kazakhstan is a secular state, more so than Turkey is nowadays. It's not some sort of Islam strong-hold if that's what you think, the country has been under Russian rule for some hundred years and is very influenced by Russian culture and socially.

Oh and what about Bosnia and Albania then, shouldn't they be allowed in ESC because they're "Muslim" countries? (also secular though) xshrug

Can me give some examples which prove that?
