Re: Creating new contest on the forum

Ok, so far we have 2 camps, and 2 basic wants when it comes to the new contest. I'll make a poll to decide democratically which one is suited for more people. Ideally 2 contests would be great, I personally think it's an over load when it comes to responsibilities.

Poll will be opened in time, specifically when people who will be voting have slept on their ideas, have thought about the options and have come to a rational decision.

I won't open a poll when I know people are still very emotional and easily moved.

Well , I think that every contest is of competitive character.
If it's not, then we can just open one thread, and post links to music video.

Scorewhore Spinoff
You're sending whatever song you feel might win, no matter if you like it or not :D

This would perfectly fit your idea.

Well, everyone would love to win ofc no one would be happy to score low but ranking should not be the "main" point of song contests.

It is not main of course, but I highly doubt you are sending song just to send. We are all trying to do well and that is normal. Otherwise we could open thread and post music videos. xshrug For me it is great to find at least one song every edition that I will have at my mp3. ;) But I would lied to if I say that I'm not glad if my song does well. ;)

Why would I? I mean if I can't even choose my country, why would I stay in the contest? (not me ofc, speaking in general)

You would be able to choose, just not all the time. Anyway, it was just an idea, and I hope that it will be added to the poll.

@Hele Instead of sending songs you already know, trying to find a good song would be challenging and fun :)

All the ideas mentioned here will be added I think. That'd be fair.

Wow I read 56 pages for nothing

Ummm i don't really know where I stand at the moment really... both "sides" have made some valid points... I guess maybe the contest with countries will be more to my liking, but the language contest would bring more diversity to the forum and everything...

Also concerning the UK/US juries sending popular songs every time, we could always implement the rule of "No top40 songs in UK/US charts", but I am not sure if you guys would like that because it kinda messes with "anyone can send anything" rule so...

Waiting the poll (and also hope there is a recap of how the 2 main ideas would work, explained in detail with differences and all)...

If you want open the poll, each party must write the advantages, goals and vision of its contest. We should add this in the 1st post in the new topic and ban the discussion

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

tbh, I still don't see the solution for 2 biggest possible problems:
1) if we go with jury system -> overcrowded juries
2) if we go with individual system -> overcrowded game and very likely "waiting list" phenomenon

seems to me that individual system might be better cause I assume that it won't be such an overlap with nsc - it is likely that many ppl from nsc waiting list might join here but not so many from nsc main event (especially those who already play both fsc and nsc). like I said, "not so many".

if we go with juries system combined with possibility of changing juries, it will be horrible for USA, UK, even Canada or France juries. in that case, what do do if 6 people want to go with USA in same month? waiting lists again.

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

a) They won't.Much more people know music by countries, than by languages. If you know Canadian,American,Australian,English,Irish very good, you can participate for all of them. But if you have language contest, all these countries music will be in one language : English
b) no.
c) correction then : Languages like English,Spanish will always win since there are small number of awesome songs in some other languages.

So you think languages like English, Spanish will always win? But based on the countries, you can create Irish, British, American, Australian, etc. Already 4 countries that mainly would send English music. While a Language Contest only one English song can participate. So your reason against a Language Contest not really convincing ;).

! Here it is Cellules Communistes Combattantes, a Belgian communist terrorist organisation in the eighties :p.

Oh, I don't mind! I'm sure the other members from Wallonie wouldn't mind either (if there are any beside you)

The rule for "rotating juries":
a) A country's jury can have up to 3 members.
b) Members of a specific jury must stay in that jury for 3 months.
c) After 3 months has passed, they have to leave the specific jury.
d) They will be replaced by other 3 people willing to join the specific jury.
e) If there are no candidates for joining the jury, the current jury can stay for the next 3 months.
f) After next 3 months, repeat the procedure.
g) If, after being relegated from their favorite jury, after 3 months there will be no new candidates, the "old" ones can freely re-enter their favorite jury, but they cannot as long as there are new candidates.

Advantages:

a) No overcrowded juries, and all the advantages that come with it, for example easier time in deciding which songs to send.
b) Diversity in the juries, so at the same time, diversity in songs.
c) People, who will not be able to join their favorite jury for the time being, will have to choose another country, which might have not been chosen if it wasn't for rotating, this would mean more unique songs to listen to.

Disadvantage:

a) You cannot be in your favorite jury all the time.
