Well, he confirmed several times in that interview that Conchita is just an act and that he is a man named Tom when not working. So can we stop saying she now?

But when referring to the act, which is what we normally talk about, 'she' is more logical.

Sure, as long as you ignore the designer beard. For the sake of people actually struggling with gender issues, It simply doesn't feel right to call Tom Neuwirth a "she".

He gave his art character a non-ambiguous girls name though. I think this indicates that onstage he leans more towards the female side, otherwise he wouldf chosen a men's name.

So you'd call Verka Serduchka she/her aswell?

Atleast it's a good thing that people finally accept that this is purely an act and nothing else.

I would. As a matter of fact, I always have and it never crossed my mind I was doing anyone any wrong. You people are ridiculously touchy when it comes to gender issues. They call themselves (or their acts, bla bla bla) feminine names, they look and sound like women, of course everyone will she them. Who cares they're really some Tom or whatever?
What does it all matter anyway? Conchita's music is still ghastly, boy, girl or in between doesnt make a toll of difference.

We are not calling Tom Neuwirth a "she". We are calling Conchita Wurst, the character played by Tom Neuwirth a "she".

Just like you wouldn't call Bart Simpson "she" just because he is voiced by a woman.

Tbh, if people want to call this act/character a she/her then it's up to them, I may not agree with it but everyone is entitled to their opinion and mindset.

It's not really about being "touchy", but unlike for instance Verka (which is a tongue-in-cheek character), I feel like in the case of Tom/Conchita he is actually exploiting a sensitive issue, and I guess there is the problem I find in it all.

Anyhow, the most important in this discussion is that people seem to finally come to terms that he is just doing an act and it's not at all pure and genuine.

I think people are too quick to write Conchita off, I am remaining open minded as to whether she/he will qualify or not. Most of you all were quick to write Belgium off this year and it made to the final with a respectable position. So i think you should all keep an open mind.

I don't get the importance of the act issue either tbh. I mean, these people are performers, to a greater or smaller degree they put on acts, all of them, that's what they do. Take the unsuspected guy from malta for instance, gianlucca bezzina or something like that, who put on a very convincing act of the very nice guy from next door, teacher's dream, mother's pride. He could actually be evil himself for all we know, he could even be a perverted squirrel rapist if we let our imagination go wild! The point is, artist wise, it doesn't matter.

Tom whatshisname may very well be the most incredible floor spitting macho in private, or he may dye his beard pink. I wouldn't know or care and I can't imagine why anyone would, unless they were morbid fans of the character.
The whole thing really goes without saying in my view xshrug

Well, we have to agree to disagree then because the issue here is that he is hailed as some sort of lgbt or "tolerance" advocate when in fact it's just a calculated cheap act relying on exploitation and just used to cover up lack of actual talent.

I don't think we even disagree, lol. That's just something else. Yes, there are always those silly enough who will grab at anything, and cheap always sells well

I'm strangely fascinated with what they come up with, is there any news on the song yet:?:

Either way no matter what you think of Conchita, he certainly loves being part of ESC that's for sure

No one from eastern Europe will vote for him/her. We don't like artists like Conchita... He/she has got no talent, but is a man in girl's clothes or girl with beard (oh, who cares) so all the homosexualists give him/her votes. No matter how bad the song will be. Some people say Eurovision is crap and circus because of participants like him/her. Sad.

"Homosexualists" Is that even a word? Oh, and as a trans person I can assure you I will NOT be voting for Conchita.

I see that your wording is not healthy at all. Calling "he/she" is extremely rude. Because this is obvious about his sex no matter what he wears. You think that no one will vote for him even before the song has been revealed? And only homosexualists give him votes? Really? Life is more than sex, I feel like I should remind you to make you sure. The last word you used "Sad" is the fact here. But not for him. You know for who.

I didn't want to be rude. I just don't understand why is he wearing clothes for women? Maybe he is such a bad artist who is trying to get attention by dressing as a woman

Yeah sure! Why you sent Verka Serduchka to Helsinki than? ;)
