I hope you both realize that you sorta confirm my point that Conchita won mostly due to political/social/media hype and not because of the song? And I see that as a problem tbh, because this should be about the songs and performances, not because of supposed political causes totally unrelated to the contest xshrug

Yeah, and I'm not negative about that. I don't want a Running Scared or Only Teardrops every year. If you want impact, then take Conchita.

Well I'm gonna stop arguing this topic here, because you seem to be completly immune to any argument.

But I'll try one last time:
YES! the victory of Conchita involves a great song, a great performance, a great staging AND a political message.
NO! in Eurovision it has NEVER been exclusivly about the song. ALL of these factors are present in most of the songs (even in those that were less successful). Every winner had a media hype before winning.

So if you see a problem, that the ESC is not only about the song and the performance, than you're in the wrong competition. Watch X-factor or The Voice. (But even there....).

Tolerance is not a "completly unrelated cause" to the ESC, it's the MAIN idea of its founding.

And as a bottom, believe both Sanna and Waylon who said (and this is not a word by word quote): she is THE ideal winner of Eurovision. (check it in the "green room reactions" on eurovision.tv)

Anyone victory, bad or good ranking is about so many factors.

The draw, the performance, how many people like it, how many good song are playing in the same category as it , how well people remember the song etc.

It s never just a good song with good vocals. There is so much more thant this. And in the end it all comes to if people like it enough to vote for it. And does those people cares about the quality or if Netherlands had better vocals ? No they just voted for what they liked best, all of them for various reasons.

Conchita had the people who liked her song, people who were surprised she was a good singer when they expected a joke act, people who wanted to support her, people who liked her message of tolerance, people who actually remembered her song more because she was a lady with a beard, people who heard and like her song before because of the buzz.

So it's true that her victory was a lof of things but it was the same for everyone.

Lena didn't win only because she had a good song, people voted for her because she had a great personality on stage, because she had a latter draw and they remembered her, because she was good-looking, because they thought Armenia was weaker and before and after that it was ballads so she stand out even more.

It s unfair to put on trial and to say she won for other reasons than the songs when all the winners got votes for various reasons and every artist in eurovision 2014 also got votes for others reasons than just a pure judgement on the song quality

Last time Austria finished in top 5 were in 1989 when Thomas Forstner sang "Nür ein lied" ending in 5th place with 97 Points.

11 years since the last top 10 placing when Alf Poier came 6th. So if it is a country that really deserved a great result in ESC, it is Austria at the moment.

Conchita has entered the official UK top 40 today at #17 (beating our own entrant, Molly, who reached #23).

Sanna Nielsen from Sweden is the only other Eurovision entry to reach the top 40 this year, but only just... she's at #40 ;)

I thought it WAS a joke to be a dq. Marriage isn't a JOKE, is it?

The prejudice some people have here is killing me.

The Serbian Patriarch said on public television that the reason of the floods in Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia is because the celebration and victory of Conchita Wurst in Eurovision, and that those floods in Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia are sent by God as a warning, for not respecting what's sacred, and celebrating what's wrong and shameful. And apparently, God sent that "warning" because he loves Serbian/Bosnian/Croatian people, and wants to point them the right way, and not what "Europe" is showing them the right way is...

Indeed. I hate Conchita's song and I dislike her image, but I can't understand how some people can have such hatred and intolerance inside.

He said that indeed, LOL.

Even though I also don't like the winning entry nor Conchita's image, this statement was scandalous.

The Serbian Patriarch...

He sounds just hilarious! Does he know that it is 21 century? Or shall we think that those countries who gave Conchita 0-5 points are saved from disaster?
Conchita is my favorite of this year. Obviously, she was the best. More I listen her, more I appreciate her. She is a queen! She has the whole winners package :)

The Slovene's, Montenegrin's and Macedonian's are obviously lost causes like the rest of Europe...

Bosnia & Herzegovina left in 2013, maybe god accepted them withdrawing but they were caught in the crossfire that hit Serbia and Croatia? xrofl

Seriously though the whole statement is a complete joke. Religion should not be the tool for spreading such comments, it's the 21st century. not the 12th century.
