Tristeza is my favourite. Watching one of the YouTube reactions it was mentioned that Josh was on The Voice Portugal. I looked at a couple of videos and found the dick-slicer nails highly distracting. For such an emotional song we need to focus on his face.
This. However, if he needs to take the votes from the grannies. He might take it out. (Jk)

Josh has potential to win the jury vote in Eurovision, but I do not want to be that delulu (televote is always hard to get).
However, if we manage to win again, Eurovision will be in Lisbon. North region does not have any big venue to host.

And let me go further... this must be the last chance to host Eurovision for years... we can smell another economic crisis coming around the corner 😂

I doubt that he will compromise that to win fdc, but the rosalia nails do make me wonder... João Borsch and Edmundo Inácio in the last 2 years ended in the second place in the final with two very gender non-conforming looks, but in Borsch's case the look was on par with the vibe of the staging. Not sure if people will react to Josh differently or if the nails will hinder his chances, but I've already seen some far-right weirdos commenting in the lyric videos and, sadly, I'm sure that the semi video will be filled with more of these idiots complaining about the nails.

For sure. And let's be real. Edmundo and João Borsch played well with on stage. It was something natural and part of their daily personas.
About Josh, I really do not know... it looks like is something fabricated. Not even artistic. But this may be an assumption.

In the three cases the gender non-conforming way of dressing and expressing themselves seems natural to them. At the end of the day it is just an aesthetic decision and like any any other aesthetic decision people may or may not like it, I personally didn't liked Edmundo's look in 2023, but, and this may be just me worrying about everything and nothing, I do wonder if the length of the nails can be a deal breaker for some.

Oh, NAPA being by far the most streamed, I'm here for it!
The song is about being born in Madeira and not feeling at home outside of it in a"big city", my guess would be either Lisbon or Oporto. I think a lot of people from Madeira, Azores or just anyone that had to move away from their hometown connected with the song and that's why it has so many streams on spotify, altough on youtube the views and engagement level are quite low.

They will not take many votes from the juries. So, should be fine.
However, the lyrics are really good! As an azorean, it hits me more.

It has been a week since the songs have came out and here are some numbers:

Top5 plays on Youtube:

#1 Fernando Daniel | 246k | Trending at #25 on Youtube
#2 Henka | 122k
#3 Josh | 103k
#4 Marco Rodrigues | 74k
#5 Napa | 68k

Regarding engagement Henka is #1 with 1.2k comments and 4.3k likes, Josh has currently 624 comments and 2.8k likes, Fernando Daniel has 485 comments and 3.7k, Marco Rodrigues 82 comments and 774 likes(I saw a comment mentioning that the views could have been inflated, but I can see people that have a more conservative taste supporting him), Napa 129 comments and 2.5k likes.

Top5 plays on Spotify:

#1 Napa | 52k
#2 Josh | 31k
#3 Henka | 26k
#4 Fernando Daniel | 23k
#5 Peculiar | 19k

Henka shared a story thanking the public for the 30k plays on spotify, so the numbers haven't been refreshed, but the top5 has been the same for a while.

This year things seem a bit muddled so it is hard to say how the televote will go, Napa will have a lot of regional support, Fernando Daniel has his fandom backing him, Henka has a lot more of engagement and regarding Josh has not only solid numbers, but has also a stable growth, the number of plays on both youtube and spotify are going down for Henka and Fernando Daniel, but Josh has maintained the same growth in that last 3 days.

This growing curve for Josh shows how consistent the hype is. Let's wait for the live show. If he comes with a smart staging, taking advantage of being on the first semifinal, it will be hard not to take the 12 from the juries.
About Henka, I do not feel a real hype for her anymore. Especially inside the bubble. And who votes massively? The fans.
Fernando Daniel is doing so-so. For an A-list artist, being fourth on Spotify gives no confidence. Just a little gossip... His wife is pregnant and the baby is scheduled to be born on the 9th of March. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
For NAPA, as an Azorean, the lyrics are meaningful. However, the instrumental is pretty dull. When people talk about The Black Mamba, they forget about their presence in the market for years and the charisma of Tatanka. Juries bought it. Televote did the same.

In the end, I think Josh will win without much drama.

And like, RTP needs to get a good result this year. The government changed for the right conservative parties.
They tried to cut the budget without ads on public main channels. In the end, parliament said no.
I would not say they do not want to win because it is Portugal and if there is a chance of some propaganda, our prime minister says yes. However, a flop could be a barrier to keeping this team working.

I don't think an NQ for example would be tragic
Fortunately, this idea was rejected by Parliament. It could be the "end" of RTP (such as current knowledge)

But however, I believe that SIC or TVI could "get" Eurovision...

They would need to be members of the EBU before they could replace RTP on Eurovision and I'm not even sure that they can apply to membership considering that EBU is a network of public broadcasters and SIC and TVI are private companies.

Ah yes, I may not have expressed myself well, I wanted to mention that both SIC and TVI would be interested in participating

Of course, to participate, you would have to apply for membership in the EBU and be accepted as an active member (acceptance is not guaranteed)

I'm not aware of this rule, what I think is that the EBU favors public service channels.

Also, we are just speculating, for now I think Portugal's participation is more than assured.

RTP main director already stated that Eurovision and EBU platform are one the biggest priorities for them. There are some reason to validate that... Carla Bugalho has a real chance of taking the supervisor role in the future, Nicolau Santos (RTP diretor) has a seat in the main EBU commission. I would not be surprise if we win very soon.
