Just got a response from “PROVEDOR RTP”. They have already shot a show about FdC and they will give explanations about what happened.

Expectations: None :ROFLMAO:

"We accept the critics. However, this format gave us Salvador. We do not need to change a winning formula". 🫠

I do expect that answer.

"Everything is fine, it's normal to have completely different rankings within the juries, they are absolutely not bias. And although we constantly tell people to vote for the song they want to send to Eurovision the true vision for Festival da Canção is to share and celebrate Portuguese music".

And the song still maintains #1 in the daily top 50 on Spotify, with more than 100 thousand plays xxclap

is the Portuguese entry with the most views (on spotify) right after the fdc (that I remember)

I don't know how Henka got that many points. I'm not complaining, I'm just suprised.
People are craving for something different. Even when it's not very good. Nobody can stand the likes of Diana Vilarinho, Margarida Campelo or Marco Rodrigues anymore, among others 🤷

Friends, if you go to Cordoaria (the nightlife spot where young people go out to drink and have fun in Porto), you'll only hear people singing "Deslocado" haha (I've already seen three stories like this). :ROFLMAO:

It will be interesting to see if the views on Friday (when young people go home) and Sunday (when they return to the cities where they study) increase significantly... I think it's a strong possibility.

Napa are in 1st place in Spotify's top 50 in Portugal, with 98 thousand listens. xscaredxclap

This went ahead of any funk music, as far as I remember, this is historic in fdc. They are the ones who had the most engagement and it will be the music that will have the longest life outside the festival.
Josh was a flop, and I don’t quite understand why. Things didn’t go well live—possibly, if he hadn’t held onto a “mast,” his voice would have come out better.

Either way, the fandom’s vote didn’t count for much this year.
There’s alternative voting in Portugal—Henka achieved an excellent result. It’s certainly the most-voted song in the festival’s history and won with the highest percentage! Henka should return

Diana would have won in a weaker year (as long as Josh wasn’t there).

The jury from the mainland that gave 0 points to Napa also voted intentionally, just as Madeira scored Josh and FD low. There were no real voting criteria—there was favoritism towards local artists, and the voting was aimed at eliminating the favorites.
In 2017, we did the same thing for Salvador to win—we didn’t vote for Italy, we didn’t vote for Bulgaria. Bulgaria and Italy also tried to sink "Portugal" in 2017. And we can talk about other cases out there

Unfortunately, sometimes the jury fails to be impartial. And honestly, apart from the jury from the North, I think most of the rest was influenced by other factors rather than the actual performances. Or maybe things just sounded really bad live.

The vote isn’t based on Eurovision potential—this year, it wasn’t. That’s questionable, but well…

Putting anger aside, the festival was a success in terms of audience, and even the proposal for a partnership with Spotify reflects that. Napa was undoubtedly the act that generated the most engagement and moved the country—both for good and bad reasons. It was the year with the most votes and the highest quality.
It also became clear that something needs to change. The risk was always there; it’s just that in recent years, the fandom’s winner also won the competition. There needs to be a collective effort from the fandom to show RTP that real changes are necessary.
Napa has the potential to either finish last in the semi-final or fight for a Top 15 spot. It all depends on the staging. Honestly, I don’t think it will go beyond the semi-final, but well… we’ll see.
- Henka is originally from Porto. No impartiality there either 😉
- Josh was a flop because he and his team came up with the worst staging ever.
- In 2017 Bulgaria and Portugal sank each other AND Italy. Italy did not do such thing. They voted for both favourites.

I saw a tuna playing and singing Deslocado some days ago close by Clérigos tower. And tourists were cheering. 🫠😂
