Re: PORTUGAL 2013

^^^ With the current two-semifinals-system it would of made it. I loved it, too.

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

I'm not mad, the Portuguese people should be though since you're dissing their language lol

And it's not just about winning, I find that a narrow mindset... then we would have a very boring ESC with just sound-a-like songs.
I like portugiesse, i just say "If they will win" send us a meaningsfull song! I don't get 2009 and 2011.. Sorry.
But i like that ESC can show us every culture from each country. In the music!

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

Apparently, RTP will be concessioned (I really don't know if this is the correct term in English, sorry). I mean, it's being partially privatized for some years. I'm not sure how this will affect Portugal's participation in ESC. I don't believe they'll withdraw, to be honest. Maybe things will change.

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

Hopefully, I mean Portugal has been sending good stuff recently (minus 2011) but maybe some bigger name is needed. I don't know if would help. Hard to say. Giving it a try would a good option.
Nelly Furtado is a great dream, but still a dream only...
Anyway... for a male act I would like to see Rui Andrade or David Fonseca.
xlove
I dunno, maybe he's too good too and won't be appreciated as well.

I would hate to see Portugal withdraw. I am still dreaming of one day going to Lisboa for the grand finals... I would love to see Portugal high on the score list for once. Maybe with some more "brasilian flavour" Portugal could do well?

I wouldn't like it either, Tiger, but I really don't believe we will take part in the next context with all these confusing things happening: economic problems and public channel being privatized ... :?

The things in Greece are even worst than Portugal and Greece still participates and will be in Malmo too. I don't believe that Portugal will withdraw and of course I don't want it. I like the Portuguese music so much! :)

Greece has confirmed!? o.0

I hope that if Portugal were to participate in 2013 it will send a strong song. All the songs sent by Portugal in recent years were weak and not suitable for an Eurovision grand final.

I liked Portugese ESC 2012 entry, didn't like ESC 2011 entry, 2010 and 2009 were ok, but Senhora do mar is still my fave Portugese entry (I'm still sorry for Canta Por Mim not winning on Portugese NF :(:() :D

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

RTP's situation is so messy at the moment. :? There's a new administration. However, I still don't see how can this affect Portugal's participation, since there is a particular staff which handles Eurovision stuff. And like Jim said above, Greece is in a worse financial condition than Portugal and they keep participating. There's plenty of time until then. I hope there's news about it this year, though.

May be they care also about results?

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

What are the RTP TV ratings from 2012?

Good question. RTP's ratings were pretty messed up at that time. GfK, a market research organisation, didn't do their job properly. There was a big confusion surrounding TV ratings some months ago. Therefore, it's not a surprise SF 2 getting the worst Eurovision rating ever here (share: 18,6%). My point is: people were not interested in Eurovision, but not that much. xrofl3
However, ratings would not be the problem because they are not huge since a long time ago. The only issue is the possible concession.

Eurovision Concert Portugal

Last Saturday the 8th of September we had the pleasure of attending the Eurovision Live Concert in Setubal, Portugal, where we met many artists that have participated in the Eurovision Song Contest over the years. In the attached video you can check out some of the performances from the concert.

An impressive list of artists performed on Saturday the 8th of September at the 2012 Eurovision Live Concert in Portugal. This concert took place for the fourth year in a row at the José Afonso Auditorium in Setubal and it featured performances not only by Eurovision Song Contest artists but also Portuguese artists that tried to represent their country in the European competition.

Among the performing artists there was Niamh Kavanagh, Irish winner of the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest with In Your Eyes and selected as the performer for Ireland again in 2010 with It's For You. Also on stage in Setubal we met Eleftheria Eleftheriou, this year's Greek Aphrodisiac, the Swiss band Sinplus that rocked Baku and Setubal with Unbreakable, and the Dutch Joan Franka, who sang You & Me in the Second Semi-Final this year.

You can watch some excerpts of their Setubal experience in our following videos:

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

Yeah, we'll see... Actually, it was quite a while since she had some real success, I guess her breaks may actually be a bit too long for this fast moving business. Her Spanish language album sort of failed (and I mean in the markets it was aimed for), and Loose was like.. 6 years ago or something?

Well, I meant more like if her project flops, she might have some time over and yeah, I could actually see her doing this as a 'bonding with roots' thing actually.

You were right, her album royally flopped. Maybe she would consider ESC now...

I really wanna see Portugal at Eurovision but not with a pop song in English, agreed they need to do something different but in their own beautiful language.

I like so much the Portuguese entries, especially in the latest years (except 2011)! :)

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

I was playing SongPop on facebook today. I bought the Brega Hits playlist (under the brazilian flag) and a song called "Me Libera" came up! I listened to it on youtube and I totally loved it! I looked up the group (Banda Djavú) and I think they're Portuguese. Can someone confirm it please? Oh and I found 2 videos of the song but with different singers... Why is that?
