Another interesting act:

Expensive Soul (funk, soul, hip-hop)

Too bad the best acts don't give a damn about Eurovision.

Flor-de-Lis.

I will never understand why so many people like them. I remember I was not happy when they won Festival da Canção in 2009.

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

RTP should select an entry internally and that's it. This is my wish list (LOL):

Amor Electro (fado pop)

David Carreira (dance-pop)

The Gift (electronic pop, soft rock, alternative)

Aurea (soul, jazz-pop)

Maybe internal selection could archieve a better place (taking the example of Macedonia this year)

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

I changed my mind. Dear RTP, hope some of you read this. Time to withdraw. The contest (now more than ever) is more about borders than music. That's what I felt after watching SF 2, on Thursday. Take Italy as an example and let people miss Portugal.

The problem about Eurovision in Portugal is that RTP seems to despise it! While in most of the countries ESC is the most watched show in Portugal its not! RTP does almost no promotion, its so stupid! Euphoria is in the top 10 of every single european country itunes except for Italy and guess who...Portugal! Its so sad!

RTP doesn't care about ESC but it's not their fault. Portuguese people lost interest in this contest. When you got bad results after bad results, what would you expect? Can people understand that?
And regarding iTunes positions, it's all a matter of taste. Our nation didn't enjoy the winning song much (3 points).
I didn't enjoy it myself, so who cares?

It doesn't explain everything. Belgium has had appalling results during the course of the Contest, but it's always been pretty popular with the Flemish part. And they're the least successful ones!

Maybe the Belgian people are more the persistent-type of people. It's all a matter of culture. People here think differently. There is few interest in Eurovision here currently. On Saturday night I missed the grand final to hang out with my friends and I talked about it but they didn't care at all! I think it's the bad results fault and RTP's fault at some extent.

Yes and I don't regret it. :D The semi-finals results were horrible, so I was expecting a very bad final. Furthermore, Filipa Sousa was out of the competition so I lost interest (I was still rooting for Norway, Ireland and Lithuania). I hope 2013 edition don't be so tragic as 2012.

Not really, afterall The Netherlands dont qualify since 2004 and ESC is just a case of sucess there year after year. RTP just doesnt promote the show enough here in Portugal and it seems tha they really dont care about it! Did you know that even SIC made a news article about Sweden winning and RTP didnt even talked about it after the show!
Anyway at least "Euphoria" is now in the portuguese top ten and I just hope it reaches number one and becomes very popular cuse that way when people hear it came from ESC they'll like the show more I suppode.

Lucenzo!!!!!!!

Btw, songs in Portuguese do great in charts, last year's big hit was "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" which is Brazilian, so why not Portugal trying to send something similar to this style?

David Carreira would be great too!!

Just not another fado-ballad with old-fashioned style (no matter how much I liked this year's entry, and also Senhora do Mar)!

Something like the entry of 2007 would be awesome too!

Re: PORTUGAL 2013

Does Portugal really need to sing in Portuguese?

Why doesn't Portugal try singing their entire song in English in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest? That way they might stand a chance of qualifying to the final and winning for the first time since their debut entry in 1964.

Since the introduction of the free language rule in 1999, every winner (bar 2004 and 2007) has been entirely in English.
