After all we must test the Friends Arena as well!
They should do the one semifinal system this year then. That will save a ton of travel expenses for everyone too.
yeaaah, ~30 entries in one semi sounds funThey should do the one semifinal system this year then. That will save a ton of travel expenses for everyone too.
33+ songs in one night???? LOL
Plus you can't really change that anymore with tickets sold and setups and preparations already underway.
So if I'm not mistaken we have 36 countries for sure and Greece, Slovenia & Bulgaria maybe???? So a max of 39 countries....yikes.
Well if I'm not mistaken (and I'm pretty sure I'm not), the top countries of the year before qualify directly to the final, no? That's hardly 33 in one night.
That is how the one semi system worked, right?
So you are suggesting that all countries that ended up in the top ten in 2012 should automatically be pre-qualified just as in the old days?
I'm sooooo against that and they can't get rid of a semi anymore, not at this stage.
I wouldn't like it either but they seem to be very motivated to cut costs. Having a two evening ESC is surely cheaper than a 3 evening event, no?
Also, they have calculated these fees with all of these countries competing in mind. Now a handful have withdrawn. The fees will be re-calculated, right?
More withdrawals might be forthcoming.
I'm pretty sure 50% host and 50% EBU.Only the host broadcaster pays for the hosting, not the participating members so having only 1 semi wouldn't really have an effect on the costs for the countries. They may save some money from less accomodations if they had to be in Semi 1 (so they can arrive at a later point) but that's about it.
I'm almost certain it wouldn't affect the fees.
