I like him too actually (although his songwriting skills are very banal), but this song is just very bad that's my problem... and if he'll get away with it just for being him... well...

Same problem I have, I love him really, I just wanted his song to be decent at least, but, yeah, that is just the way life goes, not everything is in place always.

Why does he look like 1 year older than he did a decade ago whilst I look like 10 years older than I did last year. Alexander's anti-aging advice needed.

It's a very weird situation right now. The huge, overwhelming, consensus from the Eurofan community is one of dislike. And we're all speculating that the average watcher, the general public, will like it. And certainly a lot of money has gone on that prediction.

But can there really be such a divide between the opinion of the Eurofan community and average watcher? I know 1944 wasn't a huge draw among Eurofans, but Jesus - the dislike this song has does not come close to that. Nearly everyone could at least appreciate 1944 and the emotion behind the song. It's hard to find appreciation for this aside from Rybak's charisma.

I feel like it could win, but then I look practically anywhere online - YouTube comments, Reddit, this place, Twitter... and its just not popular. It's just speculation that it will be liked, but I'm not sure if it will. It doesn't matter how liked he is, the fact it is the 1500th song, the fact he might have support in the Eastern bloc being born in Belarus and appearing on TV shows in that region... I've always been of the opinion the public simply pick up the phone for the song that makes them either go "wow" the most, or in the case of someone like Euphoria or Heroes, is just a fantastic pop song. This does not come close to either of them, and will be a big letdown.

There's nothing about this that i like or actually give credit to. Nothing :? To even think this could win... It's sort of insulting, i'm sorry.

Yes. The eurofan bubble is often wrong. How many fan favourites went to literally nothing? This will do the reverse.

There is a significant difference between a fan favourite not doing as well as expected and the reverse, though.

It's worth noting that "fan favourites" tend to change dramatically once rehearsals start too. Two months ago Toy was the overwhelming favourite. Right now? I think most fans are slowly accepting that Israel winning has been overblown, and are looking at France and Estonia.

Can you name any recent winners that were seemingly detested by fans, even after rehearsals? As I said, even songs like 1944 had some sense of appreciation.

*lol* Maybe there is some magic about playing violin? Or ( attention! Provoking answer!) about composing good music? *sings* That's how you doesn't age*

I don't think so! Salvador won last year but most countries did not tries to copy him at all actually!

Eh, 2018 didn't turn a borefest after Salvador won so no matter who wins, I am certain 2019 won't be super influenced by it xheya

Well, this whole thing with entries "copying" the previous winner goes in waves I've noticed, however I was more referring to the quality than sound-wise... anyways hopefully he won't win so we won't have to find out

I have similar genes to him, I wish I could share

I think it's partly a Slavic thing

As for Norway winning, I don't think this will happen though top 5 is possible (I think more likely 6th-10th). Eurofans always get things wrong but as someone who actually quite likes this entry I can say I don't think it's a good enough song to win. It does have entertainment value that will make sure it ranks well, but I've never seen any evidence in the past that a song can win on that alone. There have been similar entertainment songs in the past and none of them have won (a few have come in second), during much weaker years than 2018, so I would be surprised if this managed to pull it off. Could be totally wrong of course :p

I never took seriously Norway's chances to win, but now I watched the national final performance and I must say 1st place can't be ruled out entirely. It was catchy and entertaining, but the weak spot is still the actual content of the song. I mean, the music is catchy but what are the chances that eurovision is won with a song about writing a song? It's just so far from being classy, in the end it still sound childish ... with different lyrics, maybe it could win

Nah, Israel would be a worthy winner... I think Eurovision needs something fun for a change, but that one has originality, good production and is fun in the "right way", this is just boring xshrug
