This Song is so underrated. I wouldnt mind if he won again.

Btw. I have a Feeling that he will be announced as last qualifier.

One spot left. Russia VS Norway. Norway qualifies. What a reaction that would be.

Re: NORWAY 2018 - Alexander Rybak - That's How You Write A Song

This song is bound for biggest improvement from fan polling to ESC scoreboard.

#We don't like the song, because it is song for small children. But small children and their parents will love it.

I think you are right, this will do so much better in Lisboa than it does on various fan-polls.
I dont like this song either, even though I cant see why it is a "song for small children". I hadnt though about that before reading all the comments in this forum. Maybe AR himself, and his stage-performance appeals to the youngest, but the song itself?

I think THYWAS will appeal to a broad range of age groups - but I think it will appeal much less to people more than average interested in music.....But I think that most of the televoters are quite on the average when it comes to interest in music ( I know, that is not exactly a stamp of musical quality I am giving our entry this year...).

The thing that rescues this song is Rybak's magnetism and stage presence - it elevates what is a fairly average, often irritating song to another level for me, and his performance at MGP absolutely rocked!!

I can't see any result that is going to leave Norway out of the qualifiers from this semi ;)

I agree that he is very talented and great person, and I really love him, but we can not deny that he is huge Eurovision attention seeker! :D

amazing. such infectious playing.
And i loved the message in the end. "Use your voice in a positive way. Support your favorite"
I wish more people here, on fb, on YT, other forums would take this to heart.

I wonder what his update video will be if Rybak actually wins again?

I don't know why you're laughing. It's one of the leading contenders to win. Youtube reaction videos mean absolutely nothing.

Only in your world. Just watch some reaction videos, pre-Eurovision expert pannels or read some reviews... 80% really dislike the song, that's it! You can't just say "that means absolutely nothing" only because you have a different opinion! xfacepalm

In the past weeks I showed some Eurovision songs to a couple of friends which might watch Eurovision (and therefore are potential voters) and the reaction to Rybak was always basically the same: Why is he acting so cocky, why is he coming back with something shitty and pointless like this after having won Eurovision, etc.

I am torn . I don't like this much, but still think that his stage presence will compensate for the lack of the quality of his song. And in the betting odds, he does well.

Hahaha, he won't win, I am 100% sure at least when it comes to Norway. He could be in top 10, but no way that this will win. He has great charisma, but that is all he has, song is bad, and performance and staging with dancers and violin are seen hundred times, we have at least one performance like this per year. :D And odds are not so relevant ( before rehearsals and semi fnals) too, 2 or 3 of them in top 10, usually, every year, place in top 20, or not qualify at all. You can see it in example here, odd tracker in past 11 years: http://www.escxtra.com/2018/03/25/eleven-years-eurovision-odds/

And the betting odds are always spot on at this point? People are always talking about the fan bubble, but there is also the betting bubble. Last year most people on esctips and sofabet even on the final day thought that Armenia is an easy money bet for Top 10.
This year most talk is about Alexander Rybak. Someone for example said "Rybak’s name recognition and ability to hit all regions makes this a very likely televote winner. Potentially by a long shot, this is what people thought Italy was last year. Juries will respect this and the name although he won’t be their winner. I honestly believe though that if he can stay within 100-130 points of the jury winner he has a chance and that is quite achievable."
For me it is mostly talk without any evidence, but most people name Rybak and Jessica Mauboy as a potential winner while I have not even seen a single person going for Sweden or Bulgaria. Since the Madrid Preparty there has been going on some hype for France. Lets see how things play out :)

You can see it here, half of them in top 10 usually flop, soo... And Sweden and Bulgaria are miles ahead of Norway and bland Australia, and odds are not hyping them, so I don't count on this years' odds at all. In this top 5 only Bulgaria and France derve to be, and maybe Israel, I don't know what others are doing here, and who is putting money on them.

Hope so about the Odds. I like two or three songs in the top 10, but the rest? It will be interesting to find out finally. :) Thanx for the link. Interesting!
