Unfortunately, not this year again France, see you in 2019 :(

______
They could make simple staging but interesting, even italy will have those lyrics on screen, or look what germany did. I hope its just wrong impression after 1st rehearsal

How can you possibly rule this out from winning in the first rehearsal?

I'm confused somehow about how they'll manage to convey the inner message of this entry a little bit better. If I should stage this song, I'd be in severe troubles, as I struggle myself to have some good ideas. :?

I was thinking the same thing but each broadcaster give a small text to the others broadcasters to what they have to say before an entry. So obviously they're gonna say what it's all about. France Television is already doing that for years (same with RTBF in Belgium), they did it with Salvador last year, they introduced the Crimean background for Jamala. Once you know it, you don't have to get the whole precise meaning. A lot of people won't understand english entries too, in France's case it's important to get the message but if the commentators told it before, I think it's enough. I don't worry (at all) about the message.

I truly think France will go back on the betting odds fight when we will discover the rehearsal footage and even more the hands gimmick with the crowd.
My Top 5 prediction now is :
1:/ Estonia
2:/ Israel
3:/ Cyprus
4:/ France
5:/ Norway or Bulgaria

Well, I certainly hope so - first rehearsal did not impress me as much as their performance in pre-party Madrid.

I don't think France will win. Who'd want to vote for a pro-refugee song ? Europe's had enough of it.

:ua: placed 2nd in the televoting results from :ru: in 2016, despite the fact that this entry referred to the Crimean tatars being deported in 1944. xcookie

This declined with the bookies, since I don't want to spoil myself I don't want to watch the rehearsals, but was there any reason as to why? I still think this is one of the most worthy entries this year and I have a feeling it could be the winner, but now I'm not too sure xshrug

Not that much, but the odds have incomprehensibly drifted since the rehearsals from MM. The staging was brilliant, they even won the press poll.

The only reason why would be that bookmakers are usually disappointed by the first rehearsals from every country at the ESC, in the same way as :ee: and :bg: a few days ago.

Maybe it's a kind of hazing?

What?

If you're talking about "hazing", it means that you're undergoing all sorts of humiliations, which are somehow corresponding to the place or the event you attend. For instance, some students at college are being hazed.

I mean I know what hazing means, but why would bookies put them down if the performance was good?

Maybe they're waiting for the 2nd rehearsal clip with the camera work and all of the modifications and adjustments that are required. The same happened to :ee: and :cz:, before they rose in the odds all over again.

We'll see, because all I can see for France now is falling in the odds... but I guess we shouldn't read too much into odds... they've been off in the past and I really hope it's no indication, because if that crap Rybak is serving this year can be considered a top material, we have a problem.

:bg: failing to overtake :cy: and :cy: almost ready to kick :fr: out of the top 5 for good... This seems to be like a nightmare to me. As I said beforehand though, anything can occur tomorrow with the 2nd rehearsal(s) from :fr:.

All I can tell you without you getting spoiled is that Emilie and Jean Karl are embodying this awesome entry and are thoroughly putting their hearts into it.
