We'll see if that momentum will continue with MM's first rehearsal on Friday, I'm quite optimistic that it will be another strong performance

France is now number 2 in the odds. It picked up momentum when it mattered, like Salvador last year.

It's not my favorite this year, but it's still a great song and a well deserved winner.

Since there are no leds this year, they won't screw up the staging so all is good

Number 2? Wait, what? :fr: is still 3rd on eurovisionworld...

EDIT: my bad, 2nd on oddschecker. :)

Don't want to be a Debbie Downer and I'm talking about my country

BUT

Fans always get crazy around rehearsals cause they expect countries to bring real tigers, mermaids and unicorns shitting glitter on stage and when it's just some LED or a hamster wheel they always call out for a country's failure or whatsoever. SO It's not France getting second, it's the other countries that are disappointing craze fans expecting countries to do wonders.

not saying France doesn't have its chances, just being a lil' bit objective and I can't wait to see them growl and put France back 5th cause "they're not moving on stage, there's no light" and some other opinions.

This.
They just keep shortening because the other countries disappointed. I don't expect them to come up with a good staging. Edoardo said something along those lines on Twitter :?
They're ll be out of the top 5 by Friday night.

The thing is ...performance wise they can`t really do that much wrong tbh. The song speaks for itself and a fully choreographed performance with jazz hands and pyros would feel off.

Don't underestimate the French team. They need an intimate staging, therefore a good camera work à la Common Linnets is necessary. I doubt they'll put it off.
Everything about our stagings (lightings, camera work, backdrops, choregraphies) has always been so bad. It's not new and it's not gonna change this year.

I know they only hired a choregrapher for this year's performance. They let the production doing the lighting and the camera work. That's not reassuring if you ask me.

They know what to expect from :fr: actually in contrast to :ru: or :au:. We were indeed able to watch the performance of MM twice during Destination Eurovision.

I don't think that it'll decrease that much in the same way as :is: or other countries that rehearsed today. Plus, :il: still remains strong with an underwhelming performance.

Anything can happen, but Alma and Amir lost a few places in the odds because they didn't truly perform and we didn't know what we should expect from them. As for MM, there aren't that many ways to set up a staging for this entry.

I don't know whether you'll get my point or not, but I hope so.

No. They keep shortening because their entry is pretty outstanding and that their performances were mesmerising.

Without LED screens, :fr: won't fuck it up.

Don't get your hopes too high, John :?
Our stagings are always bad. They always find a way to screw everything up. This is Amir all over again. Personnaly, I prefer being pleasantly surprised. But I don't think it'll happen.

You're overreacting way too much about our stagings. I'm pretty confident this year.

They'll do it right.

EDIT: I came across the "like mentions" on the Twitter account of Edoardo Grassi and he hinted at possible simple and intimist stagings. See, it looks great.

First of all: France didn't go up just because other countries disappointed. Estonia didn't disappoint, proof: she didn't perform in any preparty. Bulgaria performed and didn't disappoint, on the contrary they impressed us and went way up in the odds. So did Australia. France is climbing so much in the odds because of the recent media exposure given to the song thanks to the discovery of Mercy and then, because the song did so well in every preparty.

Moreover, I think MM won't disappoint on stage. Their staging in Destination Eurovision was great and yet simple and efficient. They'll probably just work on that to adapt it to the big stage of Eurovision. Plus, they'll have new looks. Finally, they will obviously make their hand movement at the end of the performance and that'll look beautiful with all the hands of the people watching their performance in the crowd. I'm really confident, they can't disappoint.

I'm not overreacting. I'm being realistic here.
I have seen a lot of French journalists and fans starting to believe that we might win it all this year. I think it's better to claim victory after at least we've seen a footage of the staging. Because right now, the odds don't mean anything at all. We are not second with the bookies because they started to think that this might be a contender, but because the other market leaders disappointed. In fact, I think Norway and Australia will overtake us as soon as their first rehearsal ends.

The thing is that we rarely get the staging right and we will most likely fall in the odds by the end of Friday. Sorry.

Being realistic would be waiting for the rehearsal and then giving an opinion. You're not realistic here, you're pessimistic.

Just to make things clear here at once: :ee: and other countries that are ranked below us in the odds didn't even disappoint fans and aren't getting excited over our entry simply because of the fact that their rehearsals were either bad or awful or terrible or whatsoever. Secondly, it seems weird that you're talking about  "cause I didn't see them overtaking :fr: at all a single time, despite the fact that Alexander went to perform at most of pre-parties along with MM, along with Equinox, along with Netta.

Finally, I think that most of French eurofans (or not) are underestimating the French crew and the whole delegation because they made Amir fall in the odds from 2nd to 6th. So what? He still did end up in the top 3 of the jury. What's the huge issue here? You and most of French people are always getting upset and pessimistic, whereas we — for once — were able to see a kind of staging during Destination Eurovision that could be reused in Lisbon.

No matter what happens on Friday, I'm 100000000% sure that :fr: will remain 2nd so was Salvador last year with a simple yet efficient staging.

That being said...
