Just to make things clear here at once: :ee: and other countries that are ranked below us in the odds didn't even disappoint fans and aren't getting excited over our entry simply because of the fact that their rehearsals were either bad or awful or terrible or whatsoever. Secondly, it seems weird that you're talking about  "cause I didn't see them overtaking :fr: at all a single time, despite the fact that Alexander went to perform at most of pre-parties along with MM, along with Equinox, along with Netta.

Finally, I think that most of French eurofans (or not) are underestimating the French crew and the whole delegation because they made Amir fall in the odds from 2nd to 6th. So what? He still did end up in the top 3 of the jury. What's the huge issue here? You and most of French people are always getting upset and pessimistic, whereas we — for once — were able to see a kind of staging during Destination Eurovision that could be reused in Lisbon.

No matter what happens on Friday, I'm 100000000% sure that :fr: will remain 2nd so was Salvador last year with a simple yet efficient staging.

That being said...

Norway is gaining momentum. You'll see that he'll rise after his first rehearsal, mark my words.

Regarding Amir, there's a big difference between being second and sixth, isn't it ? He could have finished in the top 3 with a better staging IMO. But they screw everything up.

As for Alma... well. Have your seen her staging last year ? It was one of the worst of the night. The poor girl was lost on the big stage and didn't know what to do except smiling. And they were proud of this mess

Somebody mentioned that the rehearsals don't matter that much as far as the betting odds are concerned; but then why is :be: suddenly out of the top 10?
:fr: is second and has overtaken :bg: which is strange given that Bulgarian fans (not the critics) claim they performed so well.

I don't think it is convenient for a country to be in the first position in the betting odds - everyone will go after them as they are doing with Israel who disappointed not because the performance was that bad but for the high expectations that were not met - *my opinion only*

Actually I just learned here that Bulgaria performed so well but a friend of mine who was there in the arena (working for the ESC this year) told me it was disappointing AF and I just watched wiwiblogg's video and they told the same thing. Czech Republic too was kinda disappointing as a lot was going on and Israel was not crazy as people were expecting it to be.

So I stay by what I was saying, France is 2nd cause a lot of others countries were disappointing. And No offense but there was barely a staging in Destination Eurovision, if a girl standing there and moving her arm at the end while a guitarist is doing so head banging in the back is a staging well.
It doesn't need to be extra, don't get me wrong but there was barely any staging.

You are the one who is overreacting by saying that we don't believe in France chances, we do, but some of us are just careful and are just saying facts.

Barely any staging? Are you dealing with the size of the stage or the backdrop?

Don't get me wrong too, but :nl: in 2014 had a simple yet impressive staging with a focus on both singers. That's what FTV plans to do I guess.

Thus, if everyone is disappointing, then :fr: will remain 2nd because of the stunning performances that they steadily pulled off over the past few weeks.

:nl: 2014 had a staging, camera all around, road under, big shots.

But Destination Eurovision wasn't really into making a staging, so they didn't barely have one. To make it clear : Not saying they won't have a staging or they're gonna have a bad staging just saying in Destination Eurovision there was barely any staging for them. But now it's ESC not DE, so let's wait to see what they have.

I do agree with your last sentence but be sure the fans (and anti-Mercy) will always have something to say and I can see the bookmakers being afraid of it (like they were with the so disappointing acts that I didn't feel disappointing at all but hey..)

Fingers crossed.

Mercy is not about staging, but about connection with the public. Rehearsals and being a big 5 surely won't help with that, but MM have already proved they deliver real emotions when performing live.

I would love to see France winning.

1st of all, the song is amazing, super trendy without being too mainstream and 2nd of all... who wouldn't love to see a country winning in their native language two year in a row? I know I do! :)

First of all: France didn't go up just because other countries disappointed. Estonia didn't disappoint, proof: she didn't perform in any preparty. Bulgaria performed and didn't disappoint, on the contrary they impressed us and went way up in the odds. So did Australia. France is climbing so much in the odds because of the recent media exposure given to the song thanks to the discovery of Mercy and then, because the song did so well in every preparty.

Moreover, I think MM won't disappoint on stage. Their staging in Destination Eurovision was great and yet simple and efficient. They'll probably just work on that to adapt it to the big stage of Eurovision. Plus, they'll have new looks. Finally, they will obviously make their hand movement at the end of the performance and that'll look beautiful with all the hands of the people watching their performance in the crowd. I'm really confident, they can't disappoint.

Imagine the hand movement during the final with thousands of tiny lights being held by the audience, that would make for a memorable and magical finish to show that the light of hope and humanity is shining brightly

In Eurovision, it's not always a matter of quality... ;)

Btw, it's funny to see some French journalists tweeting about the current ranking of the betting odds every hour
I wonder if they'll keep doing that after Friday.

They'll most likely blame our non-victory on politics as they all low-key always do. The French are particularly annoying insofar as they like to count their chickens before they're hatched. We'll never reach the Spaniards' level of delusion, but still

That's exactly what Edoardo did last year to justify our low score with the juries

Edoardo is cute or whatever, I admit he greatly helped us since 2016, but he needs to acknowledge our expertise in terms of staging and delivery isn't there yet. There is always an issue: bad vocals, or bad visuals, or bad camera work.

Hopefully we'll get it right in a near future. :D

I don't think it will happen this year. Edoardo didn't think there was something wrong last year with the staging.
He is the one who takes care of the camera work and the lightings. No wonder why it's always bad. Maybe he'll realize that they need to hire professionals at some point.

Everyone but me seems to be """"""""a bit"""""""" pessimistic about the staging of :fr: this year. I mean, their performance in DE was somehow great, there's no need to worry. xpray
