Why did it suddenly start climbing in the odds? Why so randomly?

It's a good song. Well, one of the best this year. And I wouldn't mind it winning at all. But why now?

Maybe has something to do with the news reporting about Mercy, the girl they're singing about, and that she's fine and stuff like that. That news story could create some extra buzz in other countries when Eurovision approaches and it might get an extra medial push and attention from that. But overall I think that it's also because their great reception from all the preview parties.

As much as I want us to win, I'm still sceptical right now. It's not like our stagings were great in the last two years. Quite the contrary actually.
Can the French team pull it off this year ? Not sure.

I could totally see them doing "a Jamala" aka finishing second in both votings and still winning the whole thing

This is currently my 4th or 5th favourite, but Alma last year was my absolute winner, I kinda think this would be my most favourite for the victory, because of the quality of the song, and a little bit as a requital of Alma's loss

Do you really believe in the fact that :il: won't do well with juries?

Hmm it's really hard to tell but at this point I can't see her making the top 3 with the juries. She will undoubtedly win the televoting though (if she manages to play out her incredible charisma on stage) ...
Either way, it could totally be one of the most thrilling voting sequences since 2003 (I at least hope so haha)

I guess its because of this:

Pay attention to the final ovation, because the same is happening in Lisbon, but at a much bigger scale.

PS: I've just realized nothing has been said here about how much they slayed at Madrid preparty

This has been a real grower for me during the pre-party days so I can see why it is climbing in the odds!

I really hated it in the beginning but now it somehow sneaked into my current top 10!

Legends. I'd actually prefer their victory over all of the current favourites. Guess I must vote!

This is my last comment before the rehearsal starts and we'll see if I'll regret saying this, but this SCREAMS winner of 2018 to me right now.

oh come on Eurovision, I don't need harmless winners like those, I need something that sticks out more than just being plain simple!

...says a fan of simple stuff sometimes...

...but yeah like I said I'll have a problem for this winning. The lyrics are anthemic, but not the song. :S

Do you really think that 'Amor Pelos Dois" was anything but simple and authentic so is 'Mercy'? It's still catchier and much more genuine than THYWAS or Toy. :?

For some reason, in 2017 I mostly had a problem with just Italy winning... this year, now that I'm more in the Eurobubble, I somehow am not fond of more of those contenders for no reason at all :V (but I wouldn't mind Bulgaria winning anymore I guess if that's the case?)

So maybe it depends on the year when I am into accepting a simplicit winner? IDK myself tbh

This song :fr: is not simple and it has the best lyrics/message of them all, as for Bulgaria, that songs doesn't resonate with me and the lyrics are not original. Ah, but you
are of course, entitled to your opinion.

At least :fr: can perform and impress the audience in their live performance unlike :bg: which according to people who listened to them live can't perform as well and even one of the singers have to be replaced by a pre-recording.

Ye but it's simple sounding enough for me, and just radio friendly... of course it shall be a good sign if we're looking for those but past 2 years didn't really have radio friendly winners... not to say I strictly want this year to repeat this but yeah xd
