My initial instinct is to say that this seems really good for Malo, but looking at who qualified in the semis it actually seems that being in the middle of the lineup is more beneficial than being at either end. This seems to be perpetuated in that the four biggest contenders are all in positions 3-6, with the lesser-hyped performers at the start and finish.

Whether it's fake or not (which I highly doubt), Louka and Max as well as Igit and Malo aren't winning it. The only ones who stand a chance are Emmy, Madame Monsieur and Lisandro. Nassi's song will be forgot instantly after Lisandro's performance.

I'm also thinking that with Emmy and Madame Monsieur (if this is the legit running order) performing a couple of places ahead of Lisandro, they both might steal some of his thunder (which is what I think Sunstroke Project did to Francesco in the ESC final last year).

There's a lot more hype around Madame Monsieur.

I don't get that hype either (I mean songs like that are ten a penny on indie pop playlists on Spotify) but at least the song is decent, not sure what Eva does that makes it stand out...

I guess the hype surrounding "Mercy" mainly comes from the lyrical content: remove the message, there is nothing left that's really special.

Regarding "Eva", it probably stands out because Lisandro is 100% into his performance both vocally and theatrically, unlike the majority of the acts we've seen in Destination Eurovision. Shame the song is such a pile of Eurovision clichés imo.

Gotta pray for a MM's victory.

To be honest Sean, I don't get what's so appealing about "Eva" either - it's too generic for me (like so many other male-driven pop songs on radio these days) and there's something about Lisandro that rubs me the wrong way, I don't know what it is though.

I look for connection in a good Eurovision song, and "Eva" didn't connect with me right from the snippets. I was drawn to "Mercy" because of its simplicity and the way the story flowed through the song - it's a message of hope that can potentially resonate with Europe even if they don't understand the French language

That's totally not true. I had no idea what the message was and loved the song, as did everyone I played it too. I imagine most ESC fans who listened to it for the first time had no idea what the lyrics were. The song on it's own is great. Add the lyrics and you have an extra layer.

And after listening to all the songs, I’ll say it in four words: Lisandro Cuxi for Eurovision!

Quick question to my French friends on here...or those who are awesome Googelers. What time does Saturday's show end, does anybody know? We're going to do a live stream after the show and I certainly don't want to start until we have a winner.

While that's absolutely possible, it could also have the opposite effect: a strong enough performance from Lisandro might push Emmy/MM out of people's minds a little.

Going back to your ESC2017 example, remember that while Francesco did perform two after Sunstroke Project – which likely didn't help him – he also performed two before Salvador. It's difficult to say, then, whether Francesco's relative lack of impact was because of who came before him or who came after. Perhaps a bit of both, I'd imagine, but that doesn't really answer the question of who the running order benefits out of Emmy, MM and Lisandro.

This is feeling like a pretty hard NF to predict the final results of, and I'm not particularly invested in who takes the win as long as it's one of the top three – I like them all, but none of them really amaze me yet. So I'll probably just look forward to watching how things play out, I think.

Re: FRANCE 2018

On Saturday, all qualifiers will of course perform their potential Eurovision entries, but before that they'll make duets with known French artists (which probably will replace the solo covers they did for the semis).

The artists who will sing with them are: Gipsy King, Maître Gims, Dadju, Patrick Fiori, Slimane, Nolwenn Leroy, Alain Souchon and Cats On Trees.

-Nassi & Gypsy King.
-Louka & Maître Gims.
-Madame Monsieur & Dadju.
-Max Cinnamon & Patrick Fiori.
-Emmy Liyana & Slimane.
-Lisandro Cuxi & Nolwenn Leroy.
-Igit & Alain Souchon.
-Malo & Cats On Trees.

I don't get it.

Well I get it for the french viewers but how do you change things and make something new if you're doing exactly what the others shows are doing ?

Re: FRANCE 2018

I didn't know that Lisandro had portuguese origins. I realized that after a search in wiki.
About the competing entries, i'm not elated tbh but OK ou KO seems like a really cool tune that Eurovision would appreciate. Better than Mercy which i found it very unnatural.
