Which hype? I don't see that anywhere.

Among the French jury. The international jury didn't like it that much in contrast to Emmy and Lisandro.

Nassi is charting, I see him at #51 but that's still disappoiting since everyone though this was a clear hit.

I tell you, it's probably the teenyboppers who are buying Max's track. But I'm happy people in France are liking "Mercy"

Anyway, I still believe in the fact that it'll be a three-way battle between Lisandro, M&M and Emmy Liyana. I do hope so. :?

How are the Rules in the Final? 100% Jury, 50/50, 100% TV?

Re: FRANCE 2018

I'm curious to find out why you would have thought i'd be into it? I just find the whole thing very plain and basic. Perhaps if I could understand the lyrics there might be some added weight to it (as I read there's a moving story behind it) but for me it's not transcending the language barrier. It sounds like countless other fairly understated electro pop songs, and it's not doing anything to grab me, melodically, sonically speaking, as well as performance wise.

For me, who has read French a few years in school, but have forgotten most about it, I still can understand some of the lyrics without looking it up. If you are like me, read just a little French or perhaps have learned some Spanish or Italian, I think many of those people might feel that connection. I mean I guess many people know that "Je m'appelle" is "My name is" in French and can suddenly get to know this little girl in the song without knowing the full story. Hopefully, there are commentators that also might tell the viewers about the story. Now that I have looked up a translation, it makes me connect to the song even more, but I didn't do it for the semifinal and still find the connection.

Also, what people have to remember when judging this NF is that it is a small stage, it wasn't even live in the semis and many things will probably improve for the winner in may. Madame Monsieur will need even stronger backdrops, to make the story even stronger if they win. If Lisandro wins, then he needs backing vocalists and a few dancers to make it work in Lisbon. If Emmy would surprise and get the ticket, then she needs to loosen up big time, move around more, connect with the camera and maybe have something special, but not too extreme to look at behind her. Things need to improve...but I am sure that France, whoever wins, might fix it in time for the final on the big stage in Lisbon. :D

Re: FRANCE 2018

My two favourite songs in this selection aren't charting in France?

Re: FRANCE 2018

I feel like there's two entries that could do really well for France - Lisandro and Madame Monsieur. Lisandro would be a safe top 10, however it would probably be forgotten the year after and not make a great impact for the years to come. His story with Portugal and the fact that he's young and so talented will probably help him with the televoting.

However, Madame Monsieur I feel like could be a real hit or miss. It will either gain momentum, end up in the top 3 and be a jury favourite, and probably change the contest for the better the way The Common Linnets did for example (not to that extent of course). But I could see it flop as well if the juries don't get it and it's too odd (but I can't see how that's possible but whatever) for the regular viewer and NOT make the top 10.

Right now it would be fun to see how a song like Mercy would do at Eurovision but I think the safest bet is Lisandro. We'll just have to wait and see on saturday, can't wait :D

Mercy is a magical song and I have it on replay. I hope France choose her, she could get a great result in Lisbon.
