Yeah, Scandinavian voting is not exactly like "Turkey-Azerbaijan" voting or "Greece-Cyprus" voting but not soooo much different either. Calling it "not political" is just... just...

Also Azerbaijan issue is the only thing which is wrong with Turkey's voting, I think, if we're talking about televoting results of course. When it comes to Turkey's jury results, I can say that it's a way political so TRT should judge itself, before judging the others.

In recent years İbrahim Şahin had said lots of things like "Noone cares about Eurovision. We don't want Turkish people to be interested about it. We spent money for nothing." so in my opinion this concern about voting or big 5 is nothing but rubbish (even though I agree about big 5 thing). I don't think that we'll return in 2-3 years.

I never denied there's a Scandinavian bloc voting going on, but I wouldn't compare it to those at all... and no it's hardly political. Scandinavians vote if they like the song/familiar with its style, if the act is famous/been promoted in their country or diaspora (like Finno-Swedes in Finland and Sweden voting for the other country).

In the Turkey-Azeri / Greece-Cyprus case it clearly doesn't matter who sings, how it sounds, if it's been promoted or not... it just automatically get the 12-pointer.

what is the point of discussing it again and again? Turkey is out and it hardly wants to come back soon. So I can congratulate all the haters. Wait and perhaps we will withdraw soon too.

Huh, he says TRT may quit EBU. Never seen this news i have to say.
I wish it happens and another tv channel becomes EBU member.

Can't another channel become EBU member same time with TRT?

Why are they so pissy all of the sudden? Nobody buys their "we hate the big 5 and juries" excuse as the reason for their recent behavior...And yes, somebody could take over if they choose to leave the EBU. I personally don't think it's going to happen but then again with their recent rather irrational behavior...you never know.

I tried to understand article exactly and it doesn't seem like so realist.

Avrupa Yayın Birliği’nin (EBU) Genel Müdürü’nün kendilerini arayarak yarışmaya Türkiye’nin katılması yönünde ısrar ettiğini belirten Şahin, “Bize, yarışmanın başvuru sürecini 4-5 gün uzatabileceğini söylediler, aracılar koydular. Kesinlikle katılmayacağımızı söyledik. Türkiye’nin yüksek puan almasını kabullenemediler” diye konuştu.

I guess it says that
EBU general manager called and insisted to TRT. Şahin said that "EBU told us that they could elongate the application process 4 or 5 days. We said we certainly won't join. They couldn't accept Turkey's taking high points."

Şahin said that "After the decision a lot of Balkan countries like Azerbaijan and Bosnia said that 'If you could let us know, we would withdraw too.' But we didn't want to make it politic.

I would be glad if a Turkish confirms my translate.
If this article has any turth, TRT is officially insane.

It definitely says that, your translation is right.
TRT is just full of bullshxt. They just want to be close to Arabic countries.I guess they didn't want anymore ESC cause it happens in Christian Europe.

Very very sad indeed. TRT management is definitely making it a political issue when nothing in their results justifies it, Turkey almost systematically being in the top 10.

I'm wondering, what is the general feeling in Turkey about not being in it this year, especially among ESC fans? I can imagine there's a great deal of disappointment, but also some understanding perhaps....

I don't really care. No country is bigger than Eurovision, and even though they have sent good entries lately, I prefer concentrating on the countries that are taking part.

Also I wonder, what ordinary Turkish people are thinking about this farce. ESC fans over Bosporus must feel very sad and disappointed.
Still, I don't understand decision of TRT. I hope that they will back in 2014 and again will have fun in our favourite contest ;)
