Well, Azerbaijan will get one douze points less, but then again they will get many votes that would normally have gone to Turkey, and like all other countries, Azerbaijan benefits from not having Turkey mixing it up like they usually do. The difference is Azerbaijan will get many of the votes that would've gone to Turkey, that much seems very likely.

The Azeri delegation should be quite pleased.
@Impressive: I think Mattan summed it up quite nicely.

That's what we expected in 2011 when Turkey was absent from the final but it didn't turn out exactly that way: although Azerbaijan did win, I don't think there were as much transfer votes as was expected, especially from the Western diaspora.

When Azerbaijan won in 2011, countries other than Turkey voted for them.

Anyway, is it really worth discussing Turkey at the moment? We all know they aren't in ESC 2013; wouldn't we do better to concentrate on discussing the countries that are in ESC 2013? If you want to talk about the future of Turkey in the ESC, there's a Turkey 2014 thread in the 2014 forum.

I'm squinting my eyes.. but... I can't quite make out what that smiley saysxwhat

But yes, very strong rehearsal today. Perhaps could focus a little more on the vocal with less of the ass shaking. In my top 10.

The low countries.
A very nice throwback to Joan Franka, with them wearing a Turkey costume. I can see this in the final as well.

Hmm, I actually think that rule has been changed a couple of years ago.

However, as things are looking, I doubt they'll be back next year anyways :/

I've just read that TRT is not broadcasting the final, because they are pissed with Krista's lesbo kiss.

So if that's the real reason, please stay out until you find out this is an open-minded contest. Actually Im wondering now if all the excuses they did were right or the reason to withdraw is the obvious turn to conservatism we see in Turkey in the last year. Just wondering...

This is not true. TRT said "Nothing is wrong with that kissing. If EBU thinks this is appropriate, so appropriate for us too."
But there is no explain for not-broadcasting Eurovision, at least I couldn't find so far. If you have any Turkish news link about that, I can translate. But like I said, TRT is cool with that kissing according to their explanation.

The rule was brought back this year. That's why RTP decided to broadcast the entire contest at the last hour.

Anyway, I don't know if the decision to not broadcast the show was about Krista's kiss or not, but if it was it really is beyond ridiculous. We are in 2013.

I doubt Krista's kiss would be the real reason, just a pretext.

But it doesn't make sense, does it? There was no rumor even about "Will TRT broadcast the show?" in media for weeks. Rehearsal week TRT says "We are going to broadcast the show and lesbian kiss is not a problem." No one revives about that, TRT do it by themselves. Then they don't broadcast and there is no single explanition about what has changed xthink I am so confused xstars
