Tumblr, mostly.
I don't think I need to explain why this is very exciting news indeed.

LOVE this new bbc strategy of actually trying to be good (see also: their last two entries)

Do we think the BBC have learnt their lesson from this year’s mess where they led about 80% of the fanbase into thinking we had Rina Sawayama which then caused huge backlash initially when Mae was announced. No time for proper rumours to start!!

I have to admit that this artist is unknown to me. Never heard about him or his group.
Personally I don't care about him being gay, I'm not interested.
What do I care is what he is going to offer to us. And what I don't want is another cliche superficial gay act similar to Israel 2022. I also hope this artist and his producer haven't cooked something eurovisionesque.
But honestly I'm very happy for the British members of this forum, seems they appreciate a lot him. Good luck

That's incredible.
It's time the UK started to send popular acts to Eurovision - at least, occasionally.

His sophomore album was excellent and spawned a few hits like "Sanctify", "If You're Over Me" and the underrated "All For You".
Most fans will naturally refer to "King" because that's the biggest hit for Years & Years, for sure but that artist has so much more to offer.

Of course, I will be waiting for the song as well but Olly wanting to do Eurovision is a good sign and I'm glad that the BBC didn't reject a bigger act this time! Hopefully, it will be a success - Eurovision seems to have gained a better reputation in the UK recently and that is all what matters!

Apparently the song is going to be electronic and something you can dance to. Its not a ballad. Which is what i would have expected anyway

I'm gonna need this song to be the biggest pro-LGBT+ song we've ever seen at Eurovision - but keeping it classy. Something like this

Provokative lyrics, camp choreography and VOCALS

This exactly. I have waited almost half my life for the time to come around again when Eurovision in the UK is seen as a positive event rather than a p***-take or a career killer, and you best believe I'm gonna ride this wave as long as I can.

Whoever it is at the BBC that is finally waking up and realising that we need to use this show as a glorious platform for our talent rather than a necessary chore to undertake every year, bravo!

Of course, we await the song now... Anyone notice the random clues in the reel that Olly posted yesterday? Let's get some crazy hype going...

Wonder if Olly's gonna be the main feature on the BBC's New Year Live programming like Sam was in 2022

Im actually pleased the BBC have announced it early, especially because it stops us constantly speculating who it will be.

Also, this is ideal for promo too, you could easily have a good few months of going around europe and really putting yourself out there.

Hopefully for future years this is the way the UK will announce it.

He did the New Year's Eve show the year before Sam, this year I think it is Rick Astley from what I've read online, though that may be a placeholder fake thing and he is doing it again this year too. Maybe that would be when we'd hear the song. Who knows!?

It is definitely Rick Astley who is doing the New Year's Eve concert. Years & Years already did the concert on New Year's Eve 2021. in fact, a lot of people complained that Olly was too sexy for the New Year's Eve concert stage.

I think Sam's appearance on the NYE show was as a result of his finishing runner-up in Eurovision. Almost like BBC said "here you go, you did well, so have some extra exposure on us..." - Olly will likely feature in a number of shows over the coming months, but I'd much rather he had relevant promo opportunities across the continent to allow the competing countries to become invested in him before the contest comes around. Get him booked in for guest slots at NFs now!

The majority of the UK already knows him, although I guess a NYE showcase could be a great way of ensuring the domestic audience falls in love with him again.
