James Rowe asked Lee (Smithurst) about this on Eurotrip podcast. Haven't listened to it but apparently-remained very tight lipped and could barely hide a smirk.

They've got someone 100% and I wouldn't be surprised if we get an announcement than the usual last minuter

Wonder who the BBC have held at gunpoint this year then

It's understandable they'd want to get her locked down asap before she gets on another cruise x

It definitely seems like its a name that we might know, so that could mean an announcement could be earlier than usual.

Maybe they announce it in January then work on promoting the song, similar to what Sam Ryder did when he done a promo tour of Europe.

This is exactly what I'm thinking! January could be a good time to announce definitely. I mean, this search has definitely taken place earlier than usual too for us hasn't it? Soooo....

I'm praying for Rina I really am and I think everyone else is too :ROFLMAO:

If we get her it could be top 5, potentially a win. Who knows!

I think it's very likely to be Sophie Ellis Bextor. She did a lot of promo stuff during the Eurovision period and her kitchen disco videos went down a storm. I definitely think she has been earmarked. If not, then I think it'll be Chelsee Grimes.

I know I said it would be murder on the scoreboard (still laugh @ that ngl) but I'd love Sophie to do it. She's fun, camp and can put a bop together!

That % gets even higher when we consider 1/2 of Joe & Jake was Welsh also.

Couldn't put it better with myself. There is no bigger insult to diversity than forcing it. It's disingenious and done for none of the right reasons - just to fill the quota of inclusivity. Something we see sooo much nowadays in TV & Film - done purely to bait attention, negative or not. I do not oppose us one day sending a song in Welsh, or tapping into the music scenes of some communities but it shouldn't be the initial goal they set out to do. The main and only focus should be finding the best song & singer regardless of the rest. Also if we're looking at a lack of diversity in British singers, lets not forget that Mae is literally Jewish. There is more diversity than just the colour of someones skin or the language they speak.
Ehte yehs not an rock anybody

My wildest dream for the Uk is for them to be represented by the most underrated band of the World of the last decade by a long shot: CHVRCHES. Obv never gonna happen, but let me dream...

Why would never happen? Of course it can happen,if they are from UK it can happen
I listened to their songs and I liked
I found one artist that has a genre of song I really like and I especially liked one song from him,but i don't know if this would go to Eurovision,Is just a genre of song I like but it doesn't like it would fit on eurovision for me,Chvrches looks like it would fit more, but I don't know

This is the song:

That's because Chvrches is a big name in the English-speaking world, at least in terms of album sales, and the very popular British artists have no interest in participating in Eurovision. Those artists are already busy recording their albums and going on tours. Besides, participation in ESC takes weeks of preparation that they simply do not have.
