Well that's your argument blown out of the water... apparently so worried about consistency of argument and then bringing up quotes I have made about religion to a discussion about Bjorkman & Joe&Jake

Btw, isn't QJ capable of defending his own arguments or does it take three of you to try and prove me wrong - something you're still yet to do???

You said you that attacking isn't your style. We found four instances (pretty darn quickly) proving you wrong. If you don't understand how that's relevant then... xshrug

I have actually more in common with what you've said on the matter than with QJ, so there's not much point me trying to prove you wrong when it comes to the comments Björkman made. What he said was bang out of order given his position at the moment, regardless of what UK fans believe. I personally enjoyed the attitude that we had to commentating on the contest last year (cannot speak for previous years as I didn't watch). As for entry selection, well there does seem to be a real disconnect between our big names and ESC, but blaming that on Wogan is a little OTT to put it mildly... I think that the Beeb are trying to promote this entry a lot this year (sharing the billing last night with Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant: THAT's A-list assistance if you ask me!) and maybe they don't always get it right, but it doesn't deserve the vitriol BJ threw it at just because we don't fit into his ideal of ESC.

What I will say, though, is that QJ has every single right to say what he said and to disagree with me and I will not think badly of him because of songs he has supported. It has nothing to do with his opinion on the UK entry so keep it out of this discussion.

I don't want to go much further in this, but I don't like joke entries or songs that obviously aren't trying. Verka and the grannies offended me greatly, and they equally part of the problem as much as the UK and it's amateur entries. Both those entries did much better than I believe they should have, and as for the last point there, having listened to every song at least 12 times, I can safely say that UK, Albania and Denmark are my bottom 3. Is it the very worst song this year? At the moment I find it hard to disagree.

I genuinely wish it wasn't so low, since we have enough bad entries this year, but I'm not going to lie about my thoughts on the song. I hate it.
Well I'm glad that we agree on joke acts from every part of the continent, to me any serious song no matter how much I like it or dislike it - J&J or Georgia - deserves to finish above a joke act. Surely you think this too?

If you do, then why are you agreeing with Bjorkman who's basically saying yeah in 2012 Russian grannies baking bread no problem with them coming second, but that Engelbert? He was awful totally deserved last. I'm totally cool if Engelbert came second last, so long as Russian grannies did even worse.
Its just anti-UK bias on his part and why is he doing it? Because it is well known that the British press will react to it. France have a similar Eurovision record to us, why did he not attack them? Coz the French media wouldn't give a stuff

I really don't care if Björkman is right with what he said - it's simply not his job to patronize other countries...

What even was the intention behind what Bjerkman said, from my perspective it just looks like he wanted to have a dig at the UK. At least it will make the UK commentary from Graham Norton VERY interesting this year, I'll be surprised if Graham Norton didn't know about this controversy considering Eurovision rarely makes front page news here.

Doesn't matter how accurate or true the statements may be, Bjorkman is meant to be an unbiased chief in this year's contest and singling out one country in particular in a negative way is disgusting from a professional.

Hope more artists like her say this to the media so the British people realize the mockery the BBC makes of Eurovision and of themselves.

That's exactly how I feel about it. Is CB raising some valid points? That can be debated and I'm inclined to say Yes. Despite the fact that he shouldn't be making these statements considering the position that he is in, it's not only what he said but how he said it. It was incredibly condescending and dismissive, just really bugged the heck out of me.

Haha

She’s one to talk! She spent the best part of her career trying to escape from any connection to the contest after winning lol.

I'm starting to think this Spotify promotion was a mistake. It's been up only a few days and I'm already getting annoyed.

Sandie's attitude towards the contest is very well known so if it has a negative reputation then she contributed to it. Someone who participates and then speaks badly is far worse then someone who speaks badly but never participated. She bitches about the BBC not sending Britain's best yet I have no doubt if she were Adele or Sam Smith she wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole either. It would have had A LOT more credibility if someone like Buck Fizz said it but not Sandie

What a pity that it is so much underrated. It's a happy mainstream song, catchy and fun. We had tons of this in the past that were so much more boring but still much more loved by the public. I don't get it. I will telephone vote for it in the final.

Absolutely. I've seen a lot of people say that they expect us to finish last. I seriously hope that doesn't happen. We need some credibility back :(

The problem is, an artist as big as the ones you list will NEVER do Eurovision. And they wouldn't no matter which country they are from... would Bjork represent Iceland? Would Pavarotti have represented Italy? So why is it fair to keep expecting the UK to send, say, Adele? The UK entry should always be judged compared to the other entries that year... and this year, it might not be a winner, but its far far far from the worst... I really hope it gets on the left hand side of the scoreboard.

our most popular singers don't go to eurovision because there's simply no reason for them to go. if they're already famous in other countries, what's the point in them going, doing awfully, and ruining their career? even if they didn't do badly, i can't think of a single uk representative since katrina and the waves that saw any success after eurovision. it's not a good track record and i can't blame the big artists for not risking it.

They are representing a broadcaster in an entertainment program with little international impact or reward, that is the difference.
