Well the whole novelty acts like Rylan and Jedward lay with the judges for putting them through to live shows when they should of been ditched long before. Makes you think its purposely done for viewing figures. Luckily there isn't a novelty act in the live shows this year. But your point is right, the wrong people are suggested from these shows, and we will be seen as a joke for sending someone like Rylan, in fact the only joke/novelty act to do well is Jedwerd.

What in Eurovision? Not really. For example, Verka Serduchka finished 2nd for Ukraine in 2007.

You're not really suggesting Simon Cowell would put ratings and publicity ahead of the integrity of his singing contest, are you? He'd never do anything like that. Never. [/sarcasm]

Considering the likes of Tulisa, Nicole and *Swallow* louis were deciding the ones to go through last year then there one or two of the dregs were bound to slip through. I'm surprised Souli Roots didn't make it too the finals this year.

The second one where basically a neighbour decorates your house has been done before. I remember a programme a good few years ago where neighbours swapped keys and decorated each others houses, so that has been kind of taken from that. I will watch both first before decide whether they're rubbish or not but Lets Get Ready To Tumble doesn't look like the sort of programme i would watch.

And this is what the BBC have Bonnie doing these days

Her manager is well in at the BBC

Shes certainly done well there getting into the BBC. There is other clips like that with Bonnie Tyler that ive seen on television.

Also if they're focused on creating new shows then it gives me the impression they may of side lined eurovision and plan on following a similar pattern from previous years. But then it also makes me think, they could be working on a new National Selection format (however remote it may be) hahaha. TBH if we were to have a NF i would expect it too either be the simple format that had for 2009/2010. Or for them to pick an act and for us to pick the song (which i prefer from the two).

I'm really not holding out hope for a NF this year (nor a decent entry). If we did get one, we're still leaving it way too late for any decent songs or acts to be submitted. I think we're just going to have to accept that Eurovision is literally a one-night thing for our team and that they don't want to represent the UK fans whatsoever in the contest. It's a huge shame, considering we have some of the greatest music on the planet, but I guess this is what you get when you have to rely on the BBC; lowered standards of something that could otherwise be an amazing thing.

Still have too be hopeful, i don't think we should really give up on it because if everyone does then the BBC will just continue as it is without any form of opposition criticizing it. If there is too be a national Final despite how ever remote the chance is, like you said song quality would be very poor, not unless they're currently negotiating with song producers and potential artists, but are keeping it a secret in case it all goes wrong.

I don't hold out any hope. But I'm still going to be critical. I might not be a fan of the BBC and their crap approach to Eurovision, but I'm still a fan of the contest itself and I'd rather not see countries turning up and not putting any effort in. The UK is probably the most guilty country for this right now and it's beyond joke. It's got so ridiculous, this is what has led me to have no hope or faith in the team whatsoever. I (and other fans) am disappointed every year... it'd be nice to have no hope in them and perhaps I might be pleasantly surprised for a change.

The X-Factor-like 2009 NF was a hit though, wasn't it? Well okay, the 2010 edition flopped but at least, re-introducing it could generate some sort of interest. I imagine it's frustrating to be a British Eurovision fan, isn't it?

It's frustrating if you hold out hope in the BBC to make a great decision. If you're not fussed and just prefer supporting other countries it's not too bad.

It's extremely frustrating. I also support other countries, but it's just embarrassing that my country can't even be bothered. I'd rather go to the contest and wave my own flag proudly and actually support the entry of my native country, rather than having to wave someone else s because I'm so ashamed of the song my broadcaster has imposed on us.

It got better ratings than most things in Jan in recent years however it still underperformed for the dark nights of winter.

2009 Final 5.4 million 25%
2009 Semi Final 4.8 million 22%
2009 Show 3 4.6 million 22%
2009 Show 2 5 Million 22%
2009 Show 1 4.9 million 21%

Really it needed to be pushing over a 6 million average for that time of year, especially when the other Webber shows were getting that late spring easily. It was often beat on the night by In it to Win it which is over a decade old. ITV beat it with Harry Hill in the head to head. However it did much better than the more expensive So You Think You can Dance.

The Voice will be able to hit over the 6 million figure that the BBC want for this time of year (ITV will try to dent it with Saturday Night Takeaway) so ESC will not be on Saturday nights for the near future. I worry when the 18 month contracts of the Voice end we will get the nobodies from two years before sent to ESC and mentioned briefly on The Voice (they seem to be on a kick to promote the acts now no matter how crap they are).

The biggest concern is the 2 big entertainment shows on the BBC are now made alongside each other SCD live and the Voice is being recorded up to Xmas. ESC will be a bigger after thought than ever.

Sort of viewing figures i would expect for Eurovision National Final, most people only care in the final because its a bit of entertainment and nothing more. Of course they would increase if the same method continued for the years after, especially if the participants do well in the final. They could of also advertised the life out of it like they do for the final. (give it a segment in tea time news )

Is that even possible without them missing the deadline?

At this rate, withdrawing would be a very lucky thing to happen.

If the SCD team are doing it they got a big reminder last week

Jive Robin & Deborah Week 4 - YouTube

Perfect for the BBC and ESC really an old dragon making a fool of themselves.

I think Bonnie was first contacted in October so they might be getting the coco and wurthers out for the OAPs.

It's a huge shame "our" selection has become so exclusive and elitist that it has led artists to this. :(
The BBC has some serious answering to do and I find it concerning that they palmed her off to another broadcaster just like that!

BBC News - Eurovision 2014: Cardiff singer Krystal Mills aims to be Swiss entry

There is also a duo from the north east who have entered called The Larks. But i have to agree, its quite shocking to think that potential talent that we could use is going off to other countries, the BBC obviously need to re-evaluate their entire method.

I just feel (since 2011) constantly mad with the BBC, really disappointed and let down by our broadcaster. When will it end? With the scheduling changes and other new projects, I'm even more concerned about 2014 than I was after the shambolic performance our delegation gave in 2013's contest. I don't understand what is so hard to log on to the facebook page, scour forums, look at twitter, read newspapers and take in the things people are saying about the selection. Not to mention the many complaints they constantly get each year from majorly disappointed fans. The UK has arguably one of the biggest and most dedicated ESC fanbase, there's no excuse for this treatment, it's simply neglectful, there is no other word. There's no excuse for lack of support or help, and evidently there isn't a lack of songwriters or artists willing to pitch in. The problem is certainly with the BBC and they need to fix this.
