Please, stop beating Humperdinck. The man did a good act but, more often than not, in Eurovision you don't get the results you deserve.

His result was exactly what he deserved to be honest.

Morissey would have been good, but he has a lot of negative press about him because of his political views.

That's true but i'm sure it wouldn't have held him back. Other artists have gone to the contest and shared their views including Loreen.

Negative press? What's so controversial about his political views? Reading about him in wiki. Anti-Thatcher? Advocacy of vegetarianism and animal rights? Anti royal? "God Bless Barack Obama"? Hmm, his deep hate for Thatcher maybe somewhat out of the ordinary ... what am I missing?

I wouldn't say its out of the ordinary. There is plenty of people in the UK who hate her especially in the north. She's such a controversial person and if your given the impression we all loved her then that is most certainly wrong.

Well, I saw:

Views on political leaders
In a 1984 interview, Morrissey spoke of the then-Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher: "She is only one person. She can be destroyed. It is the only remedy for this country at the moment." British police responded by searching Morrissey's home and carrying out an official investigation, while Simon Reynolds, who had interviewed Morrissey for Melody Maker, was questioned about the tone in which Morrissey had made certain remarks about Thatcher.Morrissey's first solo album, Viva Hate, included a track entitled "Margaret on the Guillotine", a jab at Thatcher. After Thatcher's death in April 2013, Morrissey called her "a terror without an atom of humanity" and that "every move she made was charged by negativity"

Morrissey is a sensationalist arsehole who puts his opinions across in a brash and unflinching manner to get attention, as far as I'm concerned

Comparing the Norway massacre to killing livestock for fast food is just ridiculous and in poor taste.

Well that definitely is in poor taste, especially since she is dead. But i still stand by what i put. She was extremely hated by one half of the country and loved by the other. Of the People who hated her i wouldn't be surprised if there's some people who agree with him. When she died people were celebrating that she had died.

I have to agree with you there.

He's a disgusting individual and in any case BBC would never choose an anti-royal to represent the nation, so no worries! :D

Why wouldn't they? Someone's opinions on the royal family should have no bearing in choosing someone for a music contest. Leave your own views on him out of this.

You really think that somebody so vocally against the Monarchy (and patriotism whilst we're at it) would be chosen by the BBC to represent the country? Not a chance lol - why don't you think the Beeb hasn't chosen this willing person already? YOU should leave your opinions out of this and recognise what is reality, not what you want to be reality ;)

You still haven't explained why they shouldn't select him. His views on the Monarchy have no relation to his ability to sing and write music. I'm not of a fan of him in the sense that I haven't really heard much of his music but there is no doubting he is talented and successful. Morrisey would be a huge coup for the BBC. The reason he hasn't been selected yet is that he is more than likely out of reach for the BBC. Too big a name.

That is the reason he won't to to Eurovision, not because of his views on the Royals, which should have no bearing on any decision making.

Didn't he say he wanted to do it once?

He did want to do it. He was in talks I believe but the BBC wanted him to enter a national selection which he wasn't keen on so he turned the offer down. They were ridiculous for not internally selecting him. I can't remember what year this was (i'll have to check) but i'm certain Morissey would have been better than whatever we would have been sending that year.

Edit: He wanted to do it in 2007... the year of....... Scooch:rolleyes:

Shocking, despite all of his politics - most of which I disagree with, he would have been a vast improvement, but then that was when UK in eurovision was at it's worse I guess.

It'd probably do better on BBC3 imo. I think it'd be awesome if they did dot his.
They should even show some of the older contests to fill out the schedule instead of constantly repeating the same comedy shows constantly.

That would be fantastic.. I can only dream of being able to watch it without it freezing every 30 seconds. I'd say quite a lot of people would watch it as well if they properly advertised it.
