Nooo. Indie is just like bands and guitar driven music, alternative to pop etc. Not gothic music. That's just gothic music lol.

I've heard of Hurts, but Blue is definitely a better choice :p

I think there's a 2nd motive for the BBC picking blue, many of the former blue fans will now be around the late teens early 20s. They want viewers around this age (most likely because of BGT on ITV), also with 2010 being one of the lowest watched eurovision's ever they need a band with a well known name to get some people watching again. Blue seem perfect for that, I think with a good song we'll be in the top 10 again :) Hurts, although fits the bill for Eurovision, won't get the brits watching.

I agree completely!! Hurts would have caused next to no media stir at all which wouldn't be good for eurovision in the UK! At least Blue have got a bit of a debate going on whether they are crazy or not to be doing it lol! :)

After listening to them, I’d say that Hurts are more Electro-pop than indie. I love indie music (Idlewild, the Libertines, Pulp, Manic Street Preachers), even if I have a seemingly outdated taste in it!

I had never heard Hurts before coming to this forum (maybe I’m just very sheltered), despite them being a Mancunian band apparently!

I certainly would never actively choose to listen to something by Blue, (partly because my CD player has been saturated with ZZ Top lately!), but I still think they’re a pretty decent choice. As would have been Hurts tbh.
As much as I love Indie music, a lot of it can be very hit and miss.

I thought Malcolm Lincoln’s Siren was a terrific song last year, but it nose dived in the semis. I think a well established boyband is a safe option (although questionably boring :p).

Hey is it true that Hurts is going to represent Russia or just to write song???

I don't think it's true. It would be awesome if they were going to the contest, but they should represent the UK and not another country imo :(. Anyways, it's such a great band :), they should represent the UK in 2012 in London ;)

It's funny that whole Europe knows Hurts, except the Brits :). Their concerts are sold out in Belgium (but I have a ticket :)^^)!!

Sure they will win!! A country that can beat Blue isn't created/invented yet :p.

This is a desperate attempt (and their last chance) to Blue returns to world stage!
They was popular in time of two or three years (think between 2002 and 04) and after band split their solo careers have been more than unsuccessful!
And boy bands currently aren't so popular in Europe like in past times!
And who is next? Spice Girls in 2012!!!!

However, good luck UK in Dusseldorf!!!!

The Wanted have just won FSC by 40 points, Scooby ;). Clearly the people on this forum like British boybands :p.
Also the other boybands which have been at Eurovision werent really famous, were they? ;)

Why UK not send Pixie Lot or Leona Lewis or Amy or...... it's zillion extra talented singers in Britain:
For me UK have the best music industry on whole world and the best singers, and generally each year you send a very weak songs to ESC. Why?
I think that BBC don't care too much for ESC and that is the reason!
