I don't think that Maruv has planned it all, it sounds too coincidal. First of all, she had to win the contest to make this kind of buzz, which wasn't 100% certain to begin with. 2nd, other things could happen that would make her not the favorite anymore, more wildcards or even sudden changes of songs prior to the semifinals. It is though not impossible that she and maybe her record label had this in mind all along though, what do we know?

But even if Maruv had some kind of great scheme behind this, trying to make a career out of Vidbir (which I suppose all artists competing are trying to do one way or another) or the scandal thereafter, it still is the Ukrainian broadcasters fault for not preparing things beforehand to make this avoidable. If they made a contract beforehand, we wouldn't even be sitting here on the forum discussing it. Instead we would be writing about the song that Ukraine selected for Tel Aviv, whether it would have been "Siren Song" or something else.

This is not too bad for Maruv, (she got thousands of new followers on Insta and FB, people know her song etc), but this is just horrible PR for Ukraine. Horrible! Whoever decides to represent the country now has either big balls or is just stupid.

Rumor has it the remaining 5 all turned it down. If it's true I couldn't be more proud. Would've been hilarious to see Anna Maria who got last place going to represent Ukraine.

I am pretty sure that no artist that has dignity will accept to go as a replacement. They can only find some party "bot" to go instead. We have them here as well, sadly...

She didn't give her copyrights to the EBU. Logical? I don't think so.

She refused from concerts in Russia. But she didn't agree with the basic EBU contract

I can't stop reading this sentence. What is the opinion of the Ukrainian society? Since when is there an official uniform opinion representing a whole nation? It doesn't sit right and feels far too political in the context of Eurovision.

Don't you see the flag every performer represents and the name of the country, including the scoreboard?
If someone goes against our society, against our country then why this someone should even represent us?

I'm with you! I don't thinknthis is as political as many want to see it. An artist refused to sign an uncomfortable contract. Period. But maybe I'm wrong...
