Re: UKRAINE 2019

Ok, we have Eurovision in Israel so naturally I was expecting drama already. But it’s only February and I already have too much drama my body can’t handle. xheat
Can’t imagine what awaits us in May. xheat
Can Israel host every year?

Re: UKRAINE 2019

However, Sveta Pankova, MÉLOVIN’s PR manager, confirmed through a Facebook post that there were indeed other differences between the two contracts:

“No fines have been prescribed in our contract. Moreover, not in the preparatory stage, nor in Portugal were we told what to do in the number, what elements in it can’t be added, where we can’t walk and what to say.”
According to Andy there are EBU fines for changing the lyrics, not attending press conferences etc. I don't believe that it wasn't in Melovin's contract tho.

Re: UKRAINE 2019

After all this drama and my hopes for Tayanna to represent Ukraine I feel I will be upset and Ukrainian TV channel will select someone like MIHAI

I can guarantee if Tayanna represents Ukraine she will have my votes because I know her song will be amazing. Nothing she has recorded is bad (in my opinion)

Re: UKRAINE 2019

It's funny how people still say keep politics away from Eurovision...

Fact: Eurovision = Politics
And to be quite honest it's always been like that, now in 2019, 10 years ago, and it was no different when my mother tuned in to watch the yearly show back in her young days according to her.

It is sad, indeed. The motive of ESC was unity and NO POLITICS, but no one even kept to that...ever tbh. And unsurprisingly this year everyone can again play out their own agenda how its fitting to them. Tbh considering its held in Israel its still a fairly silent season

Keep politics away from Eurovision.... or at least pretend you do it XD
It's not asking too much.

Re: UKRAINE 2019

She didn't even agree with basic EBU requirements such as copyright... she wasn't going to represent us since the beginning.

This rule is mentioned in Vidbir rules which she signed in January  she was aware of it.

What's ur take on this as an Ukrainian? Sorry I'm a little late to the party. You think its ok to dsq her based on the given criteria? Just curious

I doubt her plan was to not do it. Otherwise she wouldn't have cried when winning or been in a 7 hour meeting

No, once you start mixing Eurovision with politics it’s inevitable that people talk about that. Just don’t start a political issue and people won’t have anything to say.

ps. It has nothing to do, but it’s made me think somehow of my dad haha. He always starts talking about politics and when I reply against his argument he gets angry and says ‘let’s not talk about politics!’. And me like “then why you start it?” XD

Her goal was to win the whole thing and get all the attention.

7 (actually 5 and a half) hours for discussing the rules which she has already known?

Well imho your dad is basically the ESC community at times. Many people don't realize even sometimes when they're being political or when they're being political but it fits their own agenda. Of course then they don't mind it at all and can have a good laugh about it, I won't call specific names/groups. However in other cases it's all 'Let's not mix politics into a contest'. Just as your dad when he is not pleased with the direction the conversation is heading : D

It's why I ask an Ukrainian what they think of this, seems we all have super outspoken opinions on all of this but what do the locals think? It is the only thing that matters to me in this case as none of the others live in Ukraine and can truly understand their situation afaik.

Just as I don't mind if someone wants to boycott Israel, I mean it's up to them to decide and I can again see where they're coming from, I don't see this as bullying behaviour.

I read someone say, ticket tax prices would go to Russian state which would mean it arms them against Ukraine. Sure can understand Ukrainians might not enjoy that thought.

Nobody dsq-ed her ;) She didn't sign the contract.

It's not even politics ... she doesn't want to give away copyrights to the EBU or wants to improvise on stage and do not pay to the EBU for that
Even though she was perfectly aware of that.

STB should have included "no concerts in Russia" criteria into Vidbir rules. Personally I think it's ok to tour there if Ukraine gets this profit  On the other hand it's obviously not ok from the ethical point of view especially when 85% of Russian population support the aggression. It will cause political outrage within society and the EBU doesn't need this.
I understand UA:pBC that wanted someone less politically controversial.

Wait...so we like her and hate STB or not anymore? I'm confused.

Where is the proof for this? Because in her instagram post there was nothing that specificly said that she didn't agree with that part. Yes, she confirmed that the reason for her decision was not about the concerts, but that doesn't automatically mean that she disagreed rest of the agreement - that part was just most talked about. What I read from her post and from other posts i've seen, it seems the biggest issue was for her the part about the press freedom (which would make her feel like a slave for the governement).
