I wouldn't be surprised if EBU is happy with Maruv not going because they know she's a potential winner and they don't want to risk going to Ukraine again

I think she'd ask them all the same question. "Crimea is Ukraine?"
This could be the slogan!

Eleni got the jury's 5th place, they would so put Maruv even lower, they don't enjoy epic performances like we do

Re: UKRAINE 2019

So we asking BSB next? :?

Hope we end up with Yuko at least

They have no money, they were there for a promo. Yuko is Russian citizen (even though she's in the process of switching to Ukrainian one) - it will stir even more crap (or not, people and even politicians liked her), and more politics from our haters on ESC.

Re-negotiations with MARUV, TseSho xheya or withdrawal.

Re: UKRAINE 2019

Am I the only one that thinks Maruv is overrated. Her performance was great, but the song is quite empty and not that special.

I'm actually on the Ukrainian broadcaster side on this, don't get me wrong the way they have handled this is a complete mess but I totally understand why they made the decision with Maruv. When your country is currently at war with Russia and your people are being killed every day by Russian soldiers then I wouldn't want my country being represented by a Russian sympathiser.

Some people think Mozart's music is overrated, so what?

+ she said she's against EBU's demands. If she does some improv on stage the broadcaster will be fined, she will pay 65k€ fine.
Alyosha paid the EBU 30% of our participation fee in 2010 as a fine.
So I don't get the fuss over 2 million UAH :?

Our former Head of the Delegation (Victoria Romanova, the legend praised by all our former participants and EBU bosses xheart ) slammed UA:pBC and STB for not giving everyone this contract beforehand, she supported MARUV but called some of her allegations manipulative.

This is the only reasonable conclusion in this saga.

Re: UKRAINE 2019

I seriously don't get why MARUV was allowed to enter Vidbir in the first place if it's such a big deal that she performs in Russia and has been signed to a Russian record label.
This is not new information and has been known before.

It's UA:pBC's fault, for sure.

I'm glad that Freedom Jazz and KAZKA have both rejected proposals to represent Ukraine. I hope this trend continues and that all artists show some solidarity.

Ukraine should allow MARUV to enter Eurovision under her terms.. if they want to have a puppet, they can go full internal selection mode next year.
I know that MARUV's kinda controversial in many aspects but damn, she fairly won the preselection and her having strong ties to Russia (music-wise) is commonly known and no secret.

Best summary of the whole incident. What a queen! Cancel everything and send her.

Re: UKRAINE 2019

Nope, her parents didn't take Russian citizenship - Russia made everyone in Crimea Russian citizens automatically :?
She performed at 2 corporate parties because if she refused she would paid a lot of money as a fine. The management persuaded her to perform. She has never performed there since 2014.

Ah ok, thanks for clearing it up for me.
