Just read the excerpts from the contract. Honestly, I didn't find anything unreasonable.

Honestly, I still blame the channel for botching this whole operation. They're the ones with experience, running this operation, had all the lawyers/PR people at their disposal. They had the responsibility to make sure it all runs smoothly.

Maruv is either not very bright or exceptionally manipulative. If she honestly thought that contract (from what we know) was draconian and unfair, she needs a reality check. The other option is that she said what she did to gain public sympathy but didin't in good faith want to represent Ukraine.

Oh well. No big loss. Lesson learned. Hopefully, Ukraine can internally select an act next year that won't come with all this baggage.

Oh yes, Verka going to Tel Aviv would be the climax of a democratic choice of a representative. Let the public vote, bully the winning artist out (who was clearly NOT the favorite of the jury) and then one member of this very decides he would go himself. A complete PR disaster!

Actually, Jamala's question was valid because journalists ask these kind of stuff. That was not an issue. The issue was the way the question was asked: it was something between cringy, humoristic and dicusting.

Well she was there to judge the musical quality of the entry, the impact of the performance, the strength of the vocals or whatever. That's why she's a judge.
Briefing for journalists questions is the task of the team surrounding MARUV, not Jamalas.

That may well be, but most people will not know this detail, so the image would be quite negative. (If we assume that the same people would know the detail that Verka in fact was part of the panel.... so I'm starting to contradict myself which brings me to rest this and wait for the things to come. )

Are there any acts in Ukraine strong enough to risk going? I could actually see someone like Polyakova doing it, as a dare almost.

When is the deadline? In a few days, when the situation de-escalates a little bit, I could see people's opinion changing, especially because the contract really isn't all that bad.
