Well the Russians are really trying everything .... Now some of them are saying that "1944" has been released before the 1st September 2015.

Whatever happened to source criticism?!

I feel sorry for Jamala. She wanted just to thank to all the people who voted for her and her beautiful song, and she gets 2K likes and 7000 dislikes in YT. And stupid, repetitive 9273627183 comments from mad russians who still live in their dreams and can't accept that SERGEY IS NOT A WINNER OF THIS YEAR'S CONTEST.

I think it's a matter of opinion whether it counts as being published when it was released on Youtube in May. I even heard someone say that performance had been presented on national television.

I don't think it should matter whether it gave her an advantage or not: rules are rules. Why was Anna Book disqualified in that case? I don't know if it should be counted as the song being published at that time but it feels like EBU is really doing anything they can to not disqualify her.

Anna Book's song competed in an NF and was made available for sale. The precedent for situations like this includes cases like Anja Nissen and Anouk, the latter of whom performed the song on a far more publicly available radio show. Or did it feel like they were doing everything they could not to disqualify them as well?

The exact same can be said about Jamala's song

I've never really heard about the cases against Anja and Anouk, but just because their songs broke the rules aswell doesn't mean everyone is allowed to break the rules. I don't know much about the Anja and Anouk cases but if they broke the rules EBU should've disqualified them.

Come on guys, I think we had the biggest show after the big show. EBU must be jumping from happiness. Can you imagine how much publicity did they get with this whole strife who deserved to win? I mean, this is better than Big Brother, better than any reality show. Of course, Americans will buy now ESC. It has it all: it has heroes, COMPETITION, loosers, smiles, tears, and it has the most important ingredient now: SCANDAL! So, while we stupid common people argue for nothing, the only one who profits in all this is EBU... It is all about the money.

And Soviet committed a holocaust against the Ukrainian people were around 5-10 million people were starved to death, the so called "Holodomor"... historical fact. Many leading figures in Soviet who were part architects of this were also Jewish.

I'm not denying or trying to whitewash the fact that Ukraine collaborated with Nazis (mostly as a desperate move to get away from Russia), but so did Italy, the Baltic states, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria aswell. Except for the Western Allies, pretty much only Poland and Czech Republic weren't allied with the Nazis, Switzerland wasn't on paper but Nazis hid stolen money in their banks so...

Not sure what this has to do with this discussion though, but I felt I wanted to respond to your comment here.

You missed the whole discussion here! The point of my response to Yulichka was to show her that in every stupid war there are two sides of one story - and among the common people, there are always tragic stories regardless whether they are/were guilty of anything or not. Yulichka simply insisted that there never happened such thing as a Ukrainian soldier(s) mistreating Russian girl(s) in WW2, and all I tried to show her was that I am not buying this story. Why? Cuz even though for the most part my nation was on the right side of the history in WW2, it doesn't mean that I cannot admit or allow that also innocent kids of German nazis suffered injustice on the hand of winners - all, not only Russian, but also our as well as American. That was my point.

"commercially released" is not a vague term. you need to be have been able to buy it (you know, with money) before sep 1st 2015 for it to break the rules. that wasn't the case with jamala (who sung a very early version of 1944 anyway). the song wasn't commercially released, jamala made zero profit with the performance, so no rules were broken. objectively. the end.

And the big enemy of the USA during the Cold War (or what's left of it) was defeated!

Not true :) Televoting still proved that Russia is not perceived as an enemy by the majority of Middle and Eastern European countries. So, for me, Russia (= Putin) is the one who's laughing the last (= the sweatest). :)

Yep. Pretty much.

It has attracted so much attention. Press went crazy. Discussing, writing. It had everything this year. The one to remember. I don’t think every year will be this intense with final voting. If there will be some favorite entry like Loreen then there will be no surprises during announcement. But this one, when out of nowhere Ukraine snatched victory not from one but from 2 countries at the last 60 seconds - we wont see this kind of show every year.

By the way - this is print paper "Gazette-Times", of small American city Corvallis (Oregon, USA). Population 55 000. It is sister-city of Ukranian city Uzhgorod. And official delegation from Uzhgorod (including mayor and few other) were visiting Corvallis when Jamala won. And their local press wrote about Jamala’s victory.

One of the member of Uzhgorod delegation said that they did that specifically because Ukrainian delegation was in town. That what local woman she lives with said to her. Isn’t this nice?
