I really like this entry. I mean, I liked it already when they choose it, but now I really like the fact something dark won this year.

No surprises this scored great with jury and televote in Bosnia - the atmosphere in the song, ethnic instrument and few more things are something ordinary Bosnians (and juries obviously) probably found culturally close to us. I guess.

I'm late to discover Jamala, but better late than not at all. I'm unsure if she published all her music on Spotify, but I've been having her on repeat of what there is. It's clear she's a great singer and you can hear she developed some personal recurrent "hooks" (or what you could call it), some of which she use in 1944. Most of her songs are in Russian (or Ukrainian?) and is what I would call classic soul music. It's good and very well performed. It's also really interesting to hear great soul music in Russian. I've been thinking of who she reminds me of and I suddenly got it: Diana Ross, both her 70-80's disco and The Supremes. I think Jamala have the same straight light emotional voice.

You can tell it was unfinished though. And I don't get that getup she had on. Plus she should've sang the whole thing in Ukrainian.

I did like the song though. The new version is amazing.
