And according to the rumoured names, it seems that probably Ukraine will send a lady again!

Well, I don't mind... their best artists are in fact females and the good male acts (mostly rock bands) have no interest in ESC anyways...

So, the finale of the "Hotchu v Via Gru" talent show has ended and my personal favorite trio, consisting of Misha Romanova, Erika Gertseg and Anastasiya Kozhevnikova, won and will now become the new line-up of the group Via Gra (the most successful girl group of ex- USSR, originally started in 2000) xcheer

Good contender for ESC 2014? xthink

... however, there's now officially two new line-ups of the Via Gra group, one created by Konstantin Meladze (composer/producer of Russia's 2009 entry) through this TV-show, and another newly created line-up by Dimitrij Kostyuk (the other half of the group brand's original producers):

... so the two former partners and creators of the brand are currently battling for the rights of the brand name, and in the meantime they've created two separate line-ups... what if they both aspire to enter their separate projects for ESC? Wouldn't it be hilarious if we would end up with one Via Gra entering for Ukraine and one for Russia (or simply the two battling for spots in the Ukrainian ESC selection)? And what is Pfizer's opinion on all of this?

I'd approve of that!

Technically they're both Ukrainian projects (not exactly sure where the now three girls of the Kostyuk line-up all come from though), but Ukrainian and Russian markets are quite integrated and Anastasiya Prikhodko (Ukrainian) already entered the Russian selection (and won) with an Meladze production (partly sung in Ukrainian ), so it's not an impossible thought that any (or both) of these groups could be entering either country's ESC selections...

As for the line-up chosen through the TV-show, it's also a fact that they are all capable live singers, so unlike previous Via Gra line-ups (where some were good singers, and some just pretty faces) these girls are pretty much ready to enter ESC without the risk of delivering a bad vocal performance... also the timing (past the September 1st rule of ESC) is interesting... xthink

I really like that new song by the new Via Gra lineup. Wouldn't be opposed to them going to Denmark with it, tbh. The only thing is, it's in Russian. Can they record an English version? How is their English?

A-lister, what did you think of the runner-up Via Gra group? I liked them too. That blonde girl is so pretty. They got stuck with a weaker song though. I hope they try to make it as under a different name.

I was cheering for VIAGra of Alyona Vinnickaya and they didn´t won (2nd place) :( they all were hot as should be VIAGra, and the winner (won only by Ukrainian voters) is not seem like VIAGra for me...

At first I thought the song was just so-so, but now it grew on me and it's really catchy and it would actually fit ESC well imo. I'd much prefer an Russian version than an English version tbh. Their English aren't that good anyways...

I didn't like the runner-up that much, I much preferred other line-ups that were kicked out earlier on, I especially feel sorry for a couple of pretty good trios consisting of Kazakh girls, to me unfortunately it seems that ethnicity and race had an impact in some of the outcome :( Still though, my favorite trio from the whole show won in the end anyways so I'm ok with the winner nevertheless.

The Nadezhda trio is more "Via Gra" in my opinion, and the point of the show was to find a new line-up for that brand and not just make a new random girl group. But taste difference of course, I just don't think Vinnitskaya's trio fit the concept of Via Gra, but they will probably be fine as a different girl group.

And I dunno why people say that it was unfair that they won? They received the majority of votes which makes them a fair winner, it would have been unfair if for instance the less than 3% of total votes from Kazakhstan would have had equal say as the nearly 56% of the total that came from Ukraine, afterall the system used wasn't an ESC system but a majority system.

The winning trio received 59% of the total amount of votes, so they won fair and square.

Max Barskih released a new song. IN UKRAINIAN. :gasp: It's actually pretty good. Cut it in half and send it to Denmark.

I like this, and the fact that he finally sings something in Ukrainian... according to rumors though you're not that far off because apparently this is indeed a bid for ESC...

I liked "Dance", but I wasn't a big fan of the all-English version he presented... his main issue though is that he is a rather weak live singer and knowing Ukraine in ESC they don't want to risk that... so yeah, if he goes he'll most probably not be picked again.

Gaitana was one of the worst ESC entries in Ukrainian history imho. Zlata was quality. Not completely my cup of tea, but undoubted quality.

Oh, and Max Barskih's "Dance" was absolute crap.

The brand new video for the first single of Meladze's "new" Via Gra is out... and there's a rumor they might even try out for ESC... I really hope for the latter to be true!... this would fit really well in ESC! xcheer

Not a fan of the video. The props and cinematography look cheap.

I actually have to wholeheartedly disagree, I find the video stylish, effective and slick looking with a nice choreography and cinematography. The only thing I could do without is the "Hotchu v Via Gru" intro, although I understand the point of using it. As for props, I like the flag thingy going on but I don't understand why they use the Scottish and English flags though... seems rather random

Regardless of the video though, I cross my fingers that the rumor that they might try out for ESC is true. I think they got a ready package for ESC, especially if they go with this song which imo would fit the format very well, plus they all look good and can sing live aswell. I've wanted Via Gra for years, but I think part of the reason why the team behind the group has been holding back is the fact that they always had some members who clearly couldn't sing live, but now that has changed.
