Another bid.

Unless everything else really sucks and is beyond revamp repair I don't see Ukrainians voting for this at all. xshrug It doesn't sound like something they would vote for. You can tell Swedes wrote this

It sounds like something you hear from a duo or solo male singer at Melodifestivalen. Was this written specially for them or was it another MF reject? It basically sounds like something a Swedish composer would send to another national final.

Also does anyone else think they sound really masculine? :?

Indeed, this song sounds very Swedish and we can completely imagine it competing in a Melodifestivalen! I'm not sure if it will work in the Ukrainian final, though.
Personally, I like the song. However, their voices are too deep (especially the first one). Conchita has a more feminine voice than them!

Nothing wrong with it if they were but it was the very first thing I noticed and part of ESC is first impressions. xshrug I never heard anything from them before so the first sound of their voices took me by surprise. Their voices kind of remind me of Cher except deeper

I don't know how Europe would react but the reaction on other message boards are far worse then "they sound masculine" or CaraMia's Conchita comparison (which is actually true ).

NeAngely is famous for their deep voices... I do think they are all female (no transgenders), but one can never be too sure

I don't want any MF rejects for Ukraine though, so far Ukraine managed without imports so I'm optimistic we won't see such desperations suddenly.

Well when it comes to successful Ukrainian women at Eurovision most fans usually put them in three catagories:

Sexy - Ani Lorak, Tina Karol xheat
Slutty- Anti-crisis Girl
Classy - Zlata, Mika Newton xheartxheart

I suppose Ruslana could be a cross between sexy and slutty and that's why she won, Gaitana doesn't really fit in any category and she flopped so where would NeAngely fit xthinkxthink I would have said sexy just by their looks but the voices do kind of take away from that xsorry

I wouldn't put Ruslana in either sexy or slutty category, she's in her own category really.

Indeed, my favorite ESC winner to date and one of the best performances aswell... xcheer

I really cross my fingers for something uptempo from Ukraine this year for a change (although I can live with ballads or mid-tempos if they are ethno-inspired... we've yet to have a ethno ballad from Ukraine, would be great aswell!)

When you think about it this is really true. The last time Ukraine went all out uptempo (I refused to acknowledge Gaitana NONO) was 2009. Their kind of losing their edginess xshrug

2006 Tina Karol uptempo xlove
2007 Verka uptempo
2008 Ani Lorak uptempo xheat
2009 Anti-Crisis Girl uptempo xbb
2010 Alyosha ballad xheart
2011 Mika Newton ballad xsleep
2012 xhandxhandxhand
2013 Zlata midtempo x12s

Gosh, I forgot Gaitana

So I guess it wasn't that long since Ukraine sent an uptempo song afterall, and while I actually liked the entry (although it's weak in comparison to most of Ukraine's entries) she overdid the vocals live and I dunno, I guess the disappointment regarding the whole presentation of it made me sort of forget about that one.

However, bar that one, since the introduction of the lame juries, seems like Ukraine has gone down the ballad route from being an exciting uptempo country with lots of big shows... I truly miss those jury-free days when countries put some effort in staging.

But yeah... I want something uptempo again (preferably with ethno elements) or an ethno-inspired ballad/mid-tempo (if Ukraine stick to that tempo format). Seeing Illaria amongst the rumored names makes me really hopeful, since she could deliver a great ethno-inspired entry.

"Sweet people" the best from Ukraine EVER, and then Gaitana! I hope again similar to them, Gaitana is AWESOME, she is even better than her ESC entry, she deserved better song, her vocals are UTTER AMAZING! :)

But Alyosha was EXTREMELY GREAT! :)

Gaitana's song was a bit meh in the context of most Ukrainian entries to date, pretty much a "When Love Takes Over" rip-off with some ethno-elements hidden here and there, and yeah it's below most of her other work (in fact she is one of my fav Ukrainian acts and I was rooting for her to be represent Ukraine in ESC, unfortunately her song wasn't really up there with her other material). As for the whole "deserved a better song", I see this being thrown around here and there, but it's not as if if acts are forced to sing songs, so she could have declined it if she didn't like it.

Gaitana got the vocals sure, but she destroyed her entry live with useless over-singing, sometimes less is more.

Sweet People grew on me and while I disagree it being the best Ukrainian entry ever, it's the best Ukrainian ballad/mid-tempo entry to date atleast. The only down-side with that one is the lyrics which are slightly juvenile.

Everything about Gaitana was TERRIBLE xdownxdownxdown I couldn't believe I was watching the Ukrainian entry cause it was not them in everyway possible. It was like some other country high-jacked the real one and put Gaitana in their place. xdoh The presentation was so HORRIBLE I couldn't believe this was the same country that sent Ruslana, Ani Lorak or Anti-Crisis girl.

And lets not forget if it wasn't for that lame jury it would have been the first time Ukraine would have failed to make the final! Jury for some crazy reason (I suppose she blew their ear drums out ) placed her 3rd out of 18 in the semi while the televote had her in 17th!!!

While I don't dislike Gaitana's entry as much as you seem to do (and Gaitana in general is a good artist imo, although her entry wasn't up there with her usual stuff), I do agree about the jury comment. She practically over-sung the whole entry, and almost a proof that my theories about juries only voting for the most wailing and over-singing conventionally great "big American Idol-ish" vocals are actually pretty accurate.

It's time for Ukraine to send a male singer. I loved Zlata and she's my all time favorite Ukrainian entry but for crying out loud...Zlata, Gaitana, Mika, Alyosha, Svetlana, Ani.........time to switch it up Ukraine!

For some reason the top Ukrainian male singers don't want to do Eurovision. xshrug Maybe a Ukrainian poster knows why.

In 10 years of participation Ukraine has sent a male act only twice. Their debut in 2003 where they placed 14th and 2005 when they hosted and placed 19th. Since then its been women all the way.
