Such a shame Braga lost like that against Pandurii. From what I read about the match in the first half they were terrible but in the second half they played very weel, but just didn't score. If they had qualified we'd have all teams in the group stagesQ!

UCL
Group C
:pt: Benfica
:fr: PSG
:gr: Olimpiakos
:be: Anderlecht

GROUP G
:pt: Porto
:es: Atlético Madrid
:ru: Zenit
:at: Austria Wien

I think Benfica has an easier life here and can very well win the group, depending on the matches against PSG. It'd be very improtant if they won against them, as Portugal would gain even a bigger advantage against the French league on the rankings.
Porto will be a bit harder, as Atlético and Zenit oppose a good threat, but if they play at their normal level they can win the group as well.

EL
GROUP E
:it: Fiorentina
:ua: Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk
:pt: Paços de Ferreira
:ro: Pandurii Târgu Jiu

GROUP H
:es: Sevilla
:de: Freiburg
:pt: Estoril Praia
:cz: Slovan Liberec

GROUP I
:fr: Lyon
:es: Real Betis
:pt: Vitória de Guimarães
:hr: Rijeka

All of the three teams got some of the worst possible draws. Even the teams from pot 4 seem to be good (Rijeka eliminated Stuttgart, Pandurii eliminated Braga and Slovan eliminated Udinese, all surprise results )
Paços de Ferreira has lost every single match of the season so far, but if they get their sh*t together they can rival Pandurri and Dnipro and try to qualify in 2nd place.
Estoril is playing a very good football, and so far they only tied one match, winning all the others. They were in the 2nd league just two seasons ago and now here they are in the group stage of the Europa League! Their manager played a great part on it. They will fight with Freiburg and Slovan for the 2nd place and I think they can do it.
And then we have Guimarães, who is a team that is a bit unstable and plays bad in some matches, but good in others. If they play at their best level, they can fight with Betis for the second place.

All in all both teams in the Champions canwin their group, while the ones in the Europa League can fight to get a 2nd place, at their top form.

UEFA Europa League play-off

:ch: Thun 3:0 :rs: Partizan

The result says everything. Yet another terrible play and performance of our team and yet another shaming of a club with rich tradition. Some people say that best is saved for last, but we did the contrary. We saved the worst for the end, and with this huge disgrace we have concluded one terrible euro-season in each and every aspect, and euro-season that will certainly be marked as the worst in our history. Congratulations to Thun, they gave us a soccer lesson in the second leg and deserved the spot in Europa League while we certainly didn't.

The tactics were wrong from the beginning. Since we had an active and positive result from the first match, and an obvious crater in the defense, we musn't have attacked from the first minute like we are chasing the result, but we should have played more defensively, force them to attack us, then mate them via counter-attacks. Since Thun has unstable defenders and had to open, this was the ideal setting to get the wanted result. Instead of that, we attacked them, but the players were psychically not present on this match, but probably in taverns drinking beer and f*****g the who.res as one player said he loves to do, and thus we were making one catastrophic mistake after another and all of them in the most sensitive lines of the team. We were losing with 1:0 on half-time, but as Thun destroyed us in this period, it should have been 3-0 at least.

Then in the second half the story continued, and as we are not prepared for more than 30 minutes of serious football (that is from "never harder preparations" they were claiming), it went even worse, and then after an amateurish and idiotic blunder from a defender who couldn't even secure his spot on the bench in the previous two seasons, but that our management has now projected as a proper replacement for a player who was sold to Basel, we got another goal, and then after missing a 100% chance we got the 3rd goal as well. In the end, it is good that it only ended with 3 goals in our net as it could have been at least 6 and it could have been one of the hardest debacles in our history, but generally, the debacle is not much smaller even like this.

All the players of Thun that I apostrophized as dangerouns, have shown why I did so, and that I didn't make a mistake when I scouted them. Sanogo from their team would be ideal for our middle of the field, but that is not important now...............

In the end of this long analysis, who is guilty for this? Well, everyone! The club management got what they deserved and their long-term robbery and destruction of the club has now came for a payment, and I think this is the right moment for everyone who love Partizan to stand up kick bastards out of the club already. It is a disgrace that a club like Partizan has a cancer like this in its management. The coach Rasovic should be catapulted off the bench as well, although, he is much less guilty even despite the fact that the team is in a terrible condition and shape, terribly physically prepared and that in 9 matches this season, we played 8 of them like a team from a zone league, and not one champion of a country.

:md: Sheriff Tiraspoli 2:1 :rs: Vojvodina

And Vojvodina got knocked out as well. Just like I was saying before, they have huge problems when it is expected from them to win the match, and they have this sort of "losers" mentality through their whole history. They had chances against Sheriff in both matches, but they were creating too much mistakes and their attacks were just pointless. In the second leg they were trying with long balls on an attacker who only works when he gets a long short pass in the envirioment behind the back of the defenders. They played badly both matches, and Sheriff deserved to eliminate them.

In the end, I can only quote the sentence: "Everyone play soccer...." and add "but Serbs". These catastrophic results of our clubs in euro-matches this season just reflect the low branches where our soccer is currently at, along with the national team.

Very sad that my club Werder doesn't play international anymore, we had great years, but unfortunately it passed :(

However, interesting groups in Champions League

Group A: very competitve group. ManU is the favourite because of their big name, but I was very disappointed about their activities on transfermarket and in general I'm not convinced of their squad. I even think that they might get knocked out in group stage... I know it's a long shot but who knows. Shakhtar has still a great and well attuned team despite of the departure of Mkhitaryan, San Sebastian proved their high quality as they beat Lyonnais very clearly, and Leverkusen has a young team, including great wingers.

B: Attractive group. Real Madrid imo made a big mistake by selling Özil, but nonetheless they made a stunning performance on the transfermarket. I just say Gareth Bale... I think I don't have to talk about this, there was enough news about him and this incredible transfer :D Real is a world-class team and for sure they want finally win the trophy after their barren run in the CL. Juventus is a worthy opponent for Real. Often underrated, because the squad isn't that prominent compared to Real's squad. But in fact Juve is like Italia national team, added with some world-class players from abroad. Galatasaray has a decent team and made lots of progresses in last years, but it won't be enough to reach the round of last 16 this time. Copenhagen has some players I like, but they don't have any chance to compete with their group mates... especially as their have some problems atm.

Group C: not a strong group. PSG is the favourite without doubt. Very powerful offense... I think the sub's bench hasn't a very good level, that's a thing they still have to improve to become an abolutely world-class team. The aspect that make this group boring as hell, is the high predictability. Benfica will reach 2nd rank, Olympiacos the 3rd rank, and at the bottum we will find Anderlecht. Who wants to bet?

D: FC Bayern plays dominant, but not that attractive and fast as they played last year. The defense seems to be fragile. Probably they are good enough to become the group leader. Man City has to overcome its CL-phobia :D but I'm sure they will. CSKA has a decent team and will get the chance to prove this in the Europe League.
Viktoria Pilzen is an unknown team for me, don't see them to win any match.

Group E-H, I will comment at another time

Woooooooh! Incredible night, incredible atmosphere, incredible result! And still unbeaten on home ground in CL! Johan Wiland, our goalkeeper, may have played the best match of his life but overall it was a boss effort from all players. They really fought as if their life depended on it.

Damn! We played awesome until the 66th minute! A mistake was enough for Schalke to score and then we fell down. It is a shame that Chelsea lostagainst FC Basel as now they will come more motivated to Bucharest and we will stand no chance! :(

Really, what's what? Galatasaray won against Real Madrid last year, with the same team.

If you watched this game, Ancelotti also said this, Galatasaray was the way better than Real Madrid in first half. But with two very easy defence faults, the team's mentality incredibly fell in the second half. Galatasaray missed 5 clear scores in first half, while Real Madrid had only one and they scored. Overall score was a football luck, and is never going to happen again. But I think this score could make the things for Galatasaray easier. Now the other teams will underestimate Galatasaray.

We had most succesful season in Europe 13 years ago, again with a similar situation. After a heavy defeat against Chelsea (0-5) in CL, we won Uefa Cup playing against Arsenal in the final, and Super Cup playing against Real Madrid.

See, I told you Basel was good. In fact they are a very difficult opponent. While I didn't bet on the game between Schalke and Steaua, thinking that it could end a tie, I think we all underestimated my Schalke (even me ).
Yeah, it will be pretty hard for you against Chelsea. All is not lost though.

Meh, I had money on 5 matches last night. Atletico had to win, Milan had to win, Barca had to win, Napoli had to win, and Steaua had to win or draw against Schalke... :(

I can´t believe it. Freiburg played great in the first half and was leading 2-0 and then they made so stupid faults and at the end it´s 2-2 against Liberec.

I only got Chelsea wrong on my ticket. Had I placed a win for Basel, I would have earned big money.

Dnipro played very good and it showed off! Also, Pandurii plays very bad in Cluj Napoca, so I excpect for them to do better in the away matches. Maybe a win in :pt: now as Pacos de Fereirra is in a very bad shape!

Steaua played really well until that stupid first goal! The thing is that in the UEFA Champions Legue if you make a big mistake it's over, like if you score an own goal against Real Madrid you stand no chance to draw, while in Liga 1 if you score an own goal against Corona Brasov you can still win  It's a very big difference betwen the two competitions :(

They've lost every single game so far this season, so if I had to bet I'd do so on a Pandurii's win.

Now really? Against Schalke we played very good and we made a stupid mistake, now again we play good and then we score an own goal :( I think that now we became exactly like Celtic, to good for our league, but not that good for UEFA Champions League. I don't like to say it but we need a serious competition! I want investments to be made at Dinamo, SC Vaslui, "U" Cluj and CFR Cluj again and I want Rapid and Universitatea Craiova back in Liga 1, because I always wanted Steaua to win the league every year and to know from the begining that we will win ut, but now that we have that, we can't handle the efforts in UEFA Champions League :(

I understand the comparisons to Celtic, but I can't imagine Celtic getting a 4-0 humping at Celtic Park against any team. Steaua were garbage last night.
