Whethere you love it or you think it is overrated, you can't deny the fantastic vocals at EiC. Definitely in with a big chance of winning ESC.

I actually think it'll be more intimate at ESC (like the studio version is) than it was at EiC even though it'll be in a bigger arena... Like others have said EiC is more of a party, the competition isn't at play so I feel the artists are more "free" and "relaxed" in their performances. It would be a mistake to have the audience participate in the final* like seen in Amsterdam, but at EiC, it just works perfectly with the atmosphere.

*I say final because we know that this is going to qualify

Duncan was absolutely great at EiC and ruled the arena and while being there and listening to "Arcade", I had the feeling, that this will be the winner of Eurovision 2019... but I had the same feeling during Italy´s performance in Amsterdam 2017 and we all know, what happened... (Nevertheless I wish for The Netherlands to win this year :-) )

Tumblr, mostly.
Duncan still doesn't feel like an ESC winner to me, even though there's nothing wrong with him. I dunno, fans are fickle. I totally expect people to suddenly decide ~OMG WE DON'T LIKE HIS FACE, THE STAGING IS NOT WHAT WE WANT, WHAT A FLOP~ like they did with Blanche (after which he'll still finish in the top fucking four, just as beloved as ever.)

Blanch was like a deer that look in headlight...still feel sorry for her, she was so not ready that year for eurovision. Belgium did a FLOP that year..Sadly I must admit.
I do not think Duncans face will be a problem and personaly I think the staging wil stand like a rock this year, Duncan knows what he wants with his song.
In Blanche case I think she had little input herself, all she had to do is Sing. Big diffence I think.
Arcade is has come from a long way, written bij himself its very Personal. Just like the music video he knows what he wants to tell and also how he wants to do that. And until know he is doing that pretty good.

Early favourites often hold their position and go on to win.....to take your argument seriously, none of

Alexander Rybak in 2009,
Loreen 2012
Emmelie de Forest 2013
Netta 2018

would have won. They hit the front early....and stayed there. To win.

He was realy good live. One of the best performances in Amsterdam.

The song still leaves me flat, though.

I just listened to this entry, and it’s pretty much every clichéd 2010s ballad. The warped vocal backdrops and millennial woah’s have already been done to death, and while the composition isn’t too bad actually, the lyrics aren’t enough to lift this song above pure mediocrity for me. Sam Smith has put out better ballads like this.

Ok but you can say that on every song, there is No song that have some chiched on them this year. Every single song this year is done before...for me that is not a very strong argument.

hahahaha yeah you can say that every. single. year for basically all Eurovision songs. If you're looking at Eurovision to find some groundbreaking new music style, you're in the wrong place.

No you can't say that about every song.
A song doesn't have to be necessarily super original in order to "not be a cliché" - cliché just means "an idea that has been repeated so often that it is unoriginal above average". For instance Iceland's and Portugal's songs this year, as much as I dislike them, are certainly not cliché.
On the other hand, Arcade is, though that's not the biggest problem I have with the song. My problem is that it gives me very fake vibes that I don't really enjoy.

True, but you simply can't say that Arcade is the most unconventional song in the contest. There are more daring, different entries. Personally, I don't have a problem with this song. I love it (especially the lyrics), but I can understand why some people think it is nothing special. And just because it may not be something you mind, doesn't mean it is not a good reason not to like a song.

Exactly. Every genre has its clichés, but the difference between something that feels like an instant classic and something bland and generic is the level of passion that feels like it came out of the product. “Arcade” does not stand out because the clichés come off as crutches and don’t bring anything powerful out of the piece. The predictable traits of 2010s pop ballads are just there because they make the track more palatable, not because they help deliver a mood like they do in other contexts. While the lyrics are in fact pretty original, they aren’t enough to help the track stand out from the crowd.
