The only thing I'm f***ing, is stupid
Yeah, this feels to me like the quintessential song that becomes a favourite in the odds and ends up finishing second on the night. You know the type - perfectly manufactured, nothing much to criticise, easy jury-bait, but just missing that special something. A Million Voices, Sound of Silence, Beautiful Mess and so on.
You didn't mention Heroes, but it won though.
But I completely agree with you. This song is incredibly polished, something many of the general audience will like if the staging is good and it's an overall balanced entry. It IS a good entry.
However. It falls flat the same way top-entries in the past you mentioned did, it's too polished. It lacked the ''dirt'' that made Euphoria, 1944 and Love Injected so special. I have heard songs like Arcade before, but very few are similar as gems like Down Under.

8 Points!

Along with Soldi, the only song which gives me winner vibes. If the staging is good and he sings so that the emotion comes through then I can totally see this winning.

okay so. this will NOT win. there are too many songs with a similar sound and vibe hanging around being conceivably votable for this one to truly stand out to win. we have plenty of evidence that too many similar entries ends up spelling doom to most or all of them.

but this is obviously a great track, the opposite of belgium in which it is very light on the verses to drop all the weight in the chorus. people seem to prefer this approach but i think both have very similar potential. both look top 10-y. i slightly prefer wake up, but this is a very nice listen and he is also cute so i'm sold. 8 points, probably will upgrade to 10 soon.

True, that's why there're next to each other on my list. I don't know about the top 10 potential, it depends on how out of the box entries will be received by the public. If songs like Portugual, Iceland etc. succeed in monopolizing the televote then it will end up on the right side of the board (there's no reason it doesn't qualify).

That being said, I'll give it a 7. It's the type of song I would be listening while driving or hiking in the mountain. So for Eurovision with a staging... I don't know.

This gives me Bulgaria 2017 vibe. It's a serious candidate to do well. Also, the video is just wonderful.

It's a very beautiful song and I'll give it 10 points in the poll but I think it's just too unoriginal and effortless to win IT ALL.
Is it really THAT easy to snatch the win at ESC? Since when?
If this wins, it will be one of the weakest winners in the recent history. but I wouldn't really mind a 2nd place.

I love it because it's my kind of genre. Dean Lewis, Sam Smith, Callum Scott, Lewis Capaldi, etc. But I don't think he will win. It's too polished to win the whole thing.

That's such a good point. If this wins, then it really has become easy to win the contest. I want goosebumps from the winners even if I don't really like the song!

I guess this is okay, but I don't see why people think this is anything close to a winner. I find it too slow and boring.

Ilse DeLange, Hans Pannecoucke and Ignace d'Haese will be the creative team responsible for the staging, and travel to Tel Aviv. Same team that has been responsible for the staging of 'Calm after the Storm' as well - I trust Ilse when it comes to staging, she knew what she wanted in 2014 and it delivered
