This sounds like a jury winner if it will have a good staging and a great live performance.

This is amazing. The song made me feel things in my heart and the MV made me feel things somewhere else.

A couple of listens in and I'm liking this! Not sure where it'll end on my final rankings, and I do tend to like riskier entries, but this is clearly quality stuff in terms of the production and so on. 7 points from me for now, and I think this could be the year's jury winner.

Cute and well produced, but I was expecting more, idk. 7 points for now, maybe it will be a grower.

THE GOOD:
-Everything works here.

THE BAD:
-Nothing really.

THE VERDICT:
The title of "Arcade" is proper because this song would be perfect on a Life Is Strange OST. I got that vibe within the first 30 seconds of the song, and it never let go of that vibe for me. The only knock I have on it is that it should be more memorable than it is. This is a really captivating song, and with the right staging and a good performance, I'm declaring this my dark horse to win. It might not win, but it'll get mighty close. 10 points

Arcade is the sole song this year that's given me winner vibes from the first listen, and joins Italy as the only other song so far picked that I can imagine winning. The Netherlands are not messing about.

At the same time though, this isn't really my thing at all. Elements of it I think are nice. The little intro and outro I find to be a sweet touch that allows the song to haunt you a bit, and the quality of everything is very high. An extremely polished piece of music. It's hard for me to explain what stops me from getting into this without being a terribly unbearable party/funeral (whatever it's giving you) pooper, so I won't. I'll spare people. It's just simply not made for me and is cut from a cloth that just leaves me cold. It's tolerable though. I'll give it 5 strong points out of respect for the effort.

In fairness I kind of did want to give it lower, but I'm just in such a blissful mood today. I have this love in my heart for our planet earth and its people. I feel almost like upgrading all my songs on 4 points and below up to a 5. I'd then have a whole party of 5s, living a special kind of fantasy together in harmony, holding hands. It would be beautiful.

12 points, this is the best english song in this year's contest. Definitely in the race to win Eurovision.

I can't remember the last time I heard something so pure and honest. This makes me cry, but also makes me happy. That is the sign of a strong song. We have to see what other internally selected songs will offer, especially Lazarev, but I think this is the year for The Netherlands. I'm like 75% sure this will end up winning. Absolutely certain this will smash the jury vote. If I was a Dutch, I would be so proud right now. This is a masterpiece.

I've already said that Lithuania, Belgium and Netherlands are sending practically the same "meh" song this year.

*starts butchering* Even Monika Marija's "Light On" beats the trio Duncan, Eliot and Jurijus. I hope at least one of them will grow on me later. Historically, I'm placing a bet on Lithuania and/or Belgium.
The RnB snippet sounded very promising to me, but i guess having Netherlands in my top 10 20 twice in a row is too much to ask. I'm happy that he didn't go all depressing on me though, so it's not all bad.
I don't know anything about Calum Scott aside from that he's a singer. A very boring singer. So if Duncan was inspired by him, then you know the game was over before it started. *ends butchering*

This will appeal so much to the mass crowd that it will do incredibly well in the televote or just kinda get lost like Bulgaria last year, i think. It will 100 percent qualify though.

My only concern: will this convince the televoters? Im not sure. Staging will make it or break it. And let's not forget there's Russia, that will do everything to win this year.

I completely agree with your sentiments. I see the quality. I feel the quality, but it lives me stone cold. His voice, the song structure, the melody... I really need to FEEL a song to love it, and it just isn't working for me. But I can also see how this could do very well. I don't think it's a winner because of the televote, but possible top 5 is on the cards.
