You're early...or do you really like the guy who sings

I tried to listen to Callum Scott a few songs, but I don't hear the similarities to him. This is much more indiepop than Callum Scott, which seems more mainstream in his sound. I still have the Anthony & The Johnsons vibe I had with "I Miss You", even if this is a bit more on the mainstream side than them. I try to find an artist I know that has a similar sound, and the closest I get might be actually Bon Iver. Sure, Bon Iver has a very distinct voice and Duncan doesn't come up to that, but I can totally see some similarities to some songs. "Arcade" is more of a more ESC-friendly version of Bon Iver, I would say.

Two example of Bon Iver songs, that isn't too far off Duncans "Arcade".

Moody, atmospheric, well produced but poorly written and repetitive. Kinda curious for the staging, hard to say how it will do, but i'm sure it won't be among my favorites.

It’s not country music again, at least. I don’t remember anything after listening, though.

Apparently they have been working on the staging as well. Ilse deLange said "It will look beautiful on stage", she was Duncan's coach on The Voice of Holland.

Damn I love this, I hope it finishes high but it doesn't matter to me. Easily my favourite Dutch entry of many, many years

Another high quality midtempo pop song in english - that I dont care too much about... I wont be playing this after the ESC season I'm afraid. But I admit it's a good piece of handiwork.

Straight to my Top 10! I'm sure it will place higher in the near future...

It will certainly qualify but the final result will depend on the live performance for sure... 10 points by now!

I get the weirdest "reminds-me-ofs" this year. The choir in the background during the strophes... almost the same melody as in Whispering Winds by James Horner, one of the saddest soundtracks I know. The build-up also reminds me of Germany's "Sister" this year. Starting with the piano, later introducing echoing drums... also difficult to sing switching a lot between head & chest voice! What a great vocal range Duncan has.

Result: AMAZING SONG! So far my runner-up right after Norway and my second twelve points this year. Great job, neighbours xlove If not the public, I'm sure the jury will like or even love it.

(By the way, reading some comments I sometimes wonder how many of the people writing here have at least some kind of musical education... "could have produced differently" – ye... how exactly? Always these empty phrases...)

Ouch the lyrics are really pure and honest

I have some staging ideas for this song in my head already
Those songs are usually the best

LOVE THE CHOIR
Could this «challenge» Sweden for the same votes and emerge on top??
