I hope people don't vote for an act based on looks.

How do you explain votes for Farid Mammadov, Ani Lorak or the polish butter girl? That's not my personal taste, though :D

THE GOOD:

-Overall, this is a very pleasant song to hear.
-It's also got a throwback vibe that I like (more about that in my verdict).

THE BAD:

-This is a minor thing, but it's almost too pleasant of a song. I say minor, because this is a type of song that can have a great performance.

THE VERDICT:

Back in the 80s and 90s, jam bands (like Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews Band, Phish, etc.) were starting to once again become popular, selling out shows at the big arenas of America. I would say that this song has that jam band essence. I also hear a little of Michael Bublé in Douwe Bob's vocals. What I'm saying is that this is a really good song, I do see it in the Final, and it's one of my dark horses to win. 10 points

Although I haven't heard the song and won't be until the contest night, I am already satisfied with the choice. People start to compare it with Calm After The Storm, which was my favourite in 2014, and so I really have high expectations from Bob. Don't disappoint me at the semi night Netherlands. You have shown your true potential with Anouk and The Common Linnets. Just go for it. xheart

It's an enormous deception. This is a kind of songs of what the Nerherlands has used to send to the ESC since 2015.
BORING AS HELL.

Mmm, interesting. I don't think it's as country as people think, I believe it's more folk than country, more in the vibe of Bob Dylan o James Taylor. Cute, warm, nostalgic, and it could be a surprise in May.

8/12.

they USED to send this since 2015??? It's the first song since 2015. What do you mean by that?

Erm... sorry I just mistyped my sentence actually.
'are used to sending****'

I mean by 2015 that Trinjtje didn't succeed to reach the final with 'Walk Along'.
Douwe Bob will make the Netherlands failing to qualify for the second time in a row since 2014.

I kinda like this song. The more I listen to it the more I like it. It's not a winner for sure, but I wish him luck and a good result in Stockholm

So I've decided that life is too short for me to care too much about the things that put me off this song. It's someone presenting a story that feels honestly like theirs in a really lovely way musically - gives me Randy Newman vibes. He doesn't quite have the chops to pull it off completely, but he makes a really, really honest effort, and while this isn't the Eurovision Try Your Best and Have Fun Contest, I can't fault him for that. Changing my 7 to an 8 and welcoming him to my top 10.

I am quite happy with this song. I am sure this will do way better than the Netherlands did last year. Especially since I find the 2016 edition of ESC to be weaker than last year. I think this will be found in top 15 - which is not bad.
20 years ago I would have liked it more, I guess - but still: a 7 (seems like I am giving lots of 7s this year).

The song is fine; a lot better than last year for sure. I don't love it though-the style is not really something I adore-and as such, given how I feel about this year so far, he debuts in the mid-teens. Will probably want him to qualify, but won't be hugely upset if it doesn't.

I like the song but can't find a defined melody, this song needs a chorus that stays sticked in your head, it needed a plus or something extra to stand out among all the other songs.

Can't deny that is a good the song, but lacks of something to make it more pleasant to listen.
