Might be a bit biased, granted, although I absolutely love Tattoo myself though. I'm just feeling like some people on Twitter specifically need to touch some grass before talking about being respectful towards every artist, while they're ready to fight over how well Loreen is going to do or not. I mean, we're not even 100% sure she'll be pulling off a win à la 2012 or if she's even in contention to be considered as a huge contender. We didn't even get to see the rehearsals footage so far.
Yeah I absolutely get you, I just talked about how twitter scares me as well. Just the calling your opinions a „fact“ etc. is rubbing me the wrong way. Citelis said it quite how I mean it 🤗

I'm glad you mention Eaea, because it's what Tattoo aspired to be imho. Again, if Loreen goes on to win, I'll be totally on board with it though.
If i could somehow get these 2 on top2 in the end, they would really make one of my favorites top2 of all time

The song itself is basic, and the strings towards the end should have been utilized SO MUCH more. But those dang songwriters and Loreen herself manage to make this so anthemic and maybe even a little majestic that I can't stop liking it. Liking it a lot. Yeah, whatever at this point. It's good. Those strings still elevate it a lot though, hah.

Final score: :10: points

I don't know about other places, but on this forum, I'd say it's Tattoo (and it's supporters) that's getting way more negativity than anyone else from the frontrunners ;)

It's considered edgy around here to simply hate on everything that comes out of Sweden more or less. Meanwhile there are other countries who get praised for sending a male ballad for the millionth time.

We are just several fans sharing the idea that Sweden send every years entries that don’t bring something new to the table and taking no risk.
I am (and don’t think to be alone) pleased with fresh entries, countries get off the beaten tracks…
It’s just a feeling but it makes me feel kind of arrogance, overmanufactured entries from Sweden. I’d like to see from them something new and fresh and then, I could support their entries.

As I said, there are many countries who send basically the same song every other year and weirdly they are praised for it by exactly those people who bitch the most about Sweden.

I've said this before but yeah the song is still average for me. It is actually getting a little annoying that some people treat Loreen as if she's already crowned the winner before the contest has already started. I mean Loreen is really good, loved a lot of her previous songs, especially Euphoria, but if she was this megastar that some people say she is, then why isn't she more successful in her home country Sweden?

We are in Sweden’s topic here.
So, name the countries you are referring but I am not sure they are consider by a lot of people/medias/juries/fans as ESC’s best countries ever as Sweden often (and in an unjustified way) is.
Even Malta and Azerbaidjan are trying something different this year.

I think you’re trying to give Sweden a victim position, acting like Calimero. And you’re just trying to deport the debate to other countries : that is not the point here.

They're obviously referring to :it: and I agree but to me :it: & :se: are equally overrated year after year relying on the same formula. If anything Loreen is the most genuine :se: has been capable of in the last decade (apart from the unlucky Mamas).

Why is unjustified? Most of Sweden's entries have very good result which means that many of us liked it.

Issue is that there also other countries with very good results almost constantly but only Sweden receives hate about it.

And at the end Sweden is not obligated to send ethnic or out of the box entries just to please a loud minority who dislikes english pop.

I'm just stating facts. Sweden (or should I say those who are working for SVT) has become one of the most hated countries in the fandom and on this forum in particular. Like I don't even give a damn. You do you. But honestly I can't with people pulling some shallow explanations out of their butts. At least have the guts to say that an entry from a certain country has automatically a disadvantage for you personally because you have some sort of aversion against it or its representatives.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter if an act is risky or not it is if they are good that ultimately matters. And even if I'm not a fan of Sweden's act this year it is still good and I feel a lot of the hype behind it is justified. Not all of it, as I've said in other threads I don't think it is as open-and-shut of a win for Sweden as some think but that is beside the point. Better to send someone who knows what they are doing even if it is safe than take a creative risk where it isn't really needed.

Italy is not in the same bag to me. Maneskin won with something different of ESC standards or fast-food music.

Sorry, I forgot to write « to me » or « my opinion » a thousand time in my message.
Hate is a very strong word to describe my feeling. I am just tired of the way they do and they consider marketing aspects before artistic. Art industry is focused on how to work and make money and not on express an emotion, a feeling, a message, a story…
Sweden is, once again to me, a country from I can’t name nor identify artists (considering my definition of art). I confess that I may not have a significant knowledge of Sweden culture that I could resumed to an IKEA and fast consumption culture (ok, this could appear as trash and not really kind words but once again, it is not my intention to be direspectfull to Sweden ).
It is more than, to me, Sweden’s entries come from technicians instead of artists.

I won’t because it is not true. If Sweden come with an entry I could be interested in, I would be supportive of it. But this is not the case for years. Sweden entries are not bad, they are not awful neither. They just make me be indifferent and feel nothing : that’s what I reproach to Sweden’s approach and this is what I am pissed off.

So it all boils down to the fact that you think pop music equals "fast-food"-music basically? A very common perception in the fandom so it seems. Which is fine, I guess. Some people just don't jive with certain genres.
At the end of the day it does not matter anyway. Whoever is going to victories in two weeks will not boost the popularity of the contest nor will they make the contest lose followers significantly. It has always been more about the spectacle, the event for the casual viewers.

It is not a matter of music genre. I do like Pop but I am demanding. Pop can be audacious and creative.
In my French side, ESC is not well considered. ESC acts and entries are more jokes or very unappealing music. And I think more quality entries (or should I say artsy entries) should change the image of ESC. Interest and number of viewers in France is not increasing and here, people remembers more easily Maneskin or Salvador than Loreen, Mans or Emily De Forest.
We all have different expectations, definitions of « quality » but ESC could be more respected with more entries with a real soul in it, and Sweden’s entries are perfect exemples why ESC is not respected in my country (there are obviously other reasons).
