Well there is the obvious ESC fan bias against non generic pop songs. Usually Sweden benefits massively from it, this year the bias actually goes against Sweden. It is not that people here hate Sweden. It is that they hate songs that are not generic pop.
The song has on more than one occasion been described as something like Justin Bieber would put out....... unsure if I really need to add more to that. If this is not generic pop it still doesn't sound like anything special to me. As Lavieenrose has pointed out before, "If I Were Sorry" sounds like the stuff that's filling up the US top 100 at the moment. Just because the song isn't the usual Melodifestivalen/Eurovision recipe, that doesn't make it any less generic.
I'm genuinely curious: what would you like me to do if I find your statement absurd? If the answer is "bow down and accept that I'm wrong," then sorry, but that's not happening.
Sure, it is somewhat generic in the general music scene. The logic still stands though. A lot of people hate the song because they are used to/like the typical Eurovision type songs and Frans does not follow the genre. It is quite apparent that almost everything outside of that gets major amount of hate in the forum.
LOL, I can't help you in your rationalize attempts. Consider if it's not an issue for you, that doesn't mean the issue doesn't exists, you cannot be sure and therefore unable to judge either way.
Excellent. Then just because you don't think it's a problem that the Swedish songs are untouchable and that anyone who says anything different hates Sweden doesn't mean it's not a problem.
Don't go ahead on the comments. If you've paid attention you'd know I've posted several comments very critical to Frans' song, his artistry and the general development on this year's mello. I'm far from a fan. What has bugging me all day were Matt's attack on Frans' very person which I found and find pretty ugly.
I just don't get the hate, the song is pretty good. It might not be some people's taste, but giving it 0 points out of spite is just incredibly childish. Just like Poland, it seems a lot of people on this forum have very, very narrow view on music and if this standard is not met or their favourite doesn't win, they just dislike the hell out of it. One thing that I know is that I'm glad with the increasing diversity in this contest. If every country would send a Eric Saade lookalike or a Loreen wannabe the competition will be boring as hell.
I understand if some people don't like it, but this song doesn't deserve 0 points and you all know it....

Stop twisting words and look at the context. Where did I attack Frans? I reported what people in Stockholm told me. Keep in mind two of them were Swedish and one was Danish. If you think that them calling Frans rude that evening is an attack on Frans' as a person overall then I suggest to grow a thicker skin.

So, what was your purpose to tell us all what these three people told you?
To report things, per his job? @Matt what say you?
I'm not giving it 0 points to be childish; I'm giving it 0 points to say that I hate it (which, SHOCK OF THE CENTURY, I do). I don't think this song deserves one point, but I'm not so smug and childish and entitled to expect that everyone agrees with me.
