That was my first thought as well but even my Swedish folks said this. I can only report on what they're saying.
Oh yeah, sure. :) Maybe he's a jerk in real life, but I got the shy impression from the green room interviews and such. He seemed very nervous, not knowing what to say.

THE GOOD:

-The instrumentals are good, if minimal.
-The vocals are good, too.

THE BAD:

-It's kind of stale.
-He's too young for this song, I feel.

THE VERDICT:

This is your typical Swedish pop fare. It's good, but not great. While I appreciate that he's 17 years old, this song is not a winning song. 7 points

Huh? Gina and William declared live on TV several minutes before the televoting was closed that we could still vote. I didn't know the rules for the voting this year when the show started tonight, but Gina and William let us know loud and clear that you could still vote after the IJ. If you didn't know this, that means you didn't listen. Not SVT's fault. xshrug They got 12 million votes, seems like plenty of people knew when to vote. ;)

Oh my god you are so unaware of what's going on in the world!!! I BET you don't have one single child in your family, right...

congrats to them!

Wow, congrats!
Do you know whether the friendship between Eric and Danny was affected after the thing between Danny and Molly?

Oh jeez, what on earth does that have to do with anything? Because I could then focus on the whole show? Yeah right, I was trying to watch, comment here, translate the show to foreign friends as it was going on, all at the same time and I missed things too. But you can't blame anyone if you failed to catch the rules, when they were explained loud and clear during the show!

I have made comments to get your knowledge... I have sent messages in this thread to you...
And there is NO response... from ANYONE.... :(

BUT there is a LOT of complaining about Sweden... from YOU... every single year, every month... ALWAYS... HOW on earh are we going to change this if YOU don't even respond???????????

It's SURE easy to complain, all over again ... But to make a difference it's way harder...

I didn't get any message from you. I didn't know when the show started what the voting rules were, I found out as the show went on from the hosts of the show. I didn't see your post asking about this.

What on earth do my complaints about this year's MF have anything to do with all of this?! That's got to be the strawman argument of the year. I'm Swedish myself, I LOVE Melodifestivalen, I've watched it every single year since the late '80s, I care about the contest and only want it to be the best that it can be. This year just made me sad because it was so atrociously bad and I know that it can be so much better than this.

Well, it's seems to be quite a logical choice if you look at it this way. As in Eurovision, the winner of the last year sets a trend, that many artists follow. In this case after Mans - it's all about the staging in the first place and then about the song. Best example for this - Ace.
But if there is too much from the same, the one that is different stands out. In this case - Frans. Not a strong voice, not a hammering backing track, no impressive visual effects. The few he had were on the point. On the other hand, authentic laid back presentation, a certain charisma, that one may like or not.

You may say now, not ALL of them had the focus on the staging. Right. But among the favorites - yes. Wiktoria, Ace, Molly, even Oscar.

Extremely well put.

Frans is not a Anna Bergendahl, he was the one who stood out among the favourites. It IS a good song and it will surely trend on digital lists throughout Europe. But it will not win Eurovision.

I also have a hunch that Zias bad performance in the verses killed him. That was the most Eurovision friendly song, but the verses were not good.

And "Save me"... Will not work everywhere in Europe, too much of that american country sound to have the least chance to win. Maybe if only Germany, Netherlands and the Nordics participated ;)

And all this hate... Seriously people, grow up.

Why all this hate?? I don't get it? How can you HATE a 17 years old guy that you never met in the real life???? What has he done to you?

She lives in Sweden for a couple of years now :) Got a Swedish boyfriend also.

Ah okay, thanks for that!

I always imagine living in Sweden someday (like many people on the world do these days  ^^) but that evening quite harmed my "Swedophilia"...
