That's doesn't change the fact that you said that the son deserved to go through, if not for the song's quality, then for the sobstory. So it doesn't matter if you then go on to say that you think it made the final on quality alone.

Because you just said that songs should pass through to the final on nothing but sobstories, even if they are bad.

Well, I guess I could have phrased it better and let my try to rephrase it for you. What I ment was that the story behind the song, the fact that a man died in the blossom of his life, gives the song an extra value and a deeper meaning. The phrase „I can‘t wait for tomorrow to etc etc“ gets a deeper meaning when we know the story, that a man actually died at a young age. It underlines the importance of what is being said, that we should enjoy each day and not always wait for things to happen, because we never know what‘s going to happen. That‘s what I meant and I hope you understand it, although I repeat that I believe the song was good enough to pass through. And plus, what is left of humanity if all we can think about is facts and criteria and we don‘t feel any compassion towards other people anymore? I‘m glad for the human race that they had the compassion to send this song through, that is, if it had any effect, which I can‘t be sure about.

I was surprised by Iceland passing through. The song is so boring and cheesy. It sounded more like an intermezzo between songs than as a real song. I'm also surprised that Turkey and Albania didn't go through, because they have strong diaspora which always votes for them. I can't say I really like the Turkish song, but Albania was pretty impressive (although I didn't like the styling and the attitude of Aurela). She acted as she is the best singer in the world. Maybe that worked against her.

Well I dont think we saw the winner in semi final one. So many countries had problems tryig to reproduce thieir studio sound (over produced) live and most failed. Those that had a solo singer or live instruments did better - tip for 2012 - keep it simple!

Norway deserved to be in the final but this result was predictble.

Finland - probably the best on the night but sorry IT IS so so a copy of Tom Dice and soooooooooo cheesey. A full ochestral back up and i dont think the lad played more than two notes on that guitar - but very clever so little to go wrong (mums will love it). Top 5 maybe.

Also done well;
Azrebaijan
Switszerland
Iceland

Very keen to see Estonia in semi final two but these sort of more elaborate songs with a big stage productions are not doing well this year. Which leave us with:

France (not much to go wrong)
or
United Kingdom

To win ESC 2011 (+ Estonia if they get it right in semi final 2 but unlikely).

You're forgetting Dino for Bosnia, who is a favorite, and is probably the most vocally sound performer in Eurovision this year.

It's on the Eurovision official website. Just go to the Media link, and the "webTV" will pop out for you and click on that. You have to install Octoshape before running it, but the program is safe and worth it. :)

Sure, I feel compassion towards them. It's still a travsty that thy beat out Yohanna's superior vocals and superior song beacuse the Icelandic people felt sorry for them.

I‘m glad for the human race that they had the compassion to send this song through, that is, if it had any effect, which I can‘t be sure about.
There it is again! "The fact that a guy died should totally help this song!". No, not really.

He's not really, he's way out at 20/1 - the ones bunched together who all have a reasonable chance of winning according to the odds (except France which probably has a high chance) are Ireland, United Kingdom, Azerbaijan and Estonia. Personally I dont see it as such - France I think will do brilliantly but can it win, I dont know?? Same with Ireland, it'll do well, maybe 5th, but winning?? The countries with a chance of winning imo are United Kingdom, Azerbaijan and Estonia - include Russia if people are feeling it. But Im probably totally wrong.

Fortunately you are! Russia is uber crap, Estonia IMHO is a totally bland song, UK is deja vu of previous 20 years of music industry backstreet boys N'Sync and I'll hurt myself if people vote for it, cause it's totally childish like 11 year old girls childish, while France will simply be up there but not a winner!

You're definitely not biased are you!

And I'll be proven wrong or right by the way the votes go on Saturday, not before hand ;).

It's really hard to predict the winner this year :S I like the fact that Eurovision is getting unpredictable.

After the results of yesterday, I don´t have a big favorite this year. All is possible and I guess, it will be a close race between several countries. It could be the UK, France, Sweden, Finland (since yesterday), Germany, Hungary (with better voice), Estonia, Ireland and also Bosnia-Herzegowina. I hope for a close race this year.

Dino will do very good in the final. I'm not mentioning the semifinal because he will pass through. You are forgetting how many countries will actually vote for Bosnia (All diaspora and friendly countries) Lithuania passed because the girl has one of the best voices in semifinal. The song is a classic Disney type ballad, but her voice brought it up pretty much. France could be a winner, but I wouldn't bet on it, because there are a lot of people that won't vote for it (mostly because average listeners don't like operatic voices). UK won't be a winner for sure, because they are left in a shadow somehow. Blue is a nice band, but they look like they don't belong to Eurovision somehow.
And finally, the winner will be.... I won't tell you :)
